I've always wondered this. I can't find any info on this anywhere.

When playing the game, you sometimes find these little things that look like ammo clips, they're called stuff like "Hacking Software version 1". What do these things do? Sometimes you'll get a message "redundant software not installed" and the ammo clip will vanish.

Anyone that can answer this? Thanks!

these are basically passive bonuses to the corresponding skill. once you have one, the rest of the same level softs are discarded, as they are redundant.

Check the breakdown of stats listed on the node diagram before you start a hack/mod/repair. It shows reduction due to cyber-affinity, software etc.

Wish you could spend the "redundant" research software on getting some research going instead of them being wasted, instead of having to put points into the stat.
