Everything downloads, verifies, and after all the files are installed, I get an Install error.

"Installation failed Configuration Error"

Windows 7 x64. Rarely have problems with games.

Tried running the shock2.exe but get no response when I do.

Are you using Galaxy or the individual installer from the website?

Your question gave me the idea to try the install outside of Galaxy. To get the game for free, you needed to go through Galaxy beta, but I was able to download the stand alone install.

That seems to have worked.

No idea why it fails from Galaxy, probably a bug in the install .
Just weighing in, getting this too on multiple games. Browsed to C:\Program Files (x86)\GalaxyClient\Games to see if anything was out of order, and all 3 games it is complaining about Installation Failed: Configuration Error for are seemingly downloaded/extracted. I am also able to play the games directly by running the executable. For some reason GalaxyClient just doesn't recognise they are installed correctly, or maybe I just haven't explored part of the game which is affected by the supposed configuration error yet, but it seems to be running fine.

Wondering if this is a recent bug, because games installed a month or so ago did so fine and both then and now still are listed as installed fine, so only new downloads seem to be affected.
I had this same error as well just now but it seems that I fixed it.

I noticed that the administrators group and system accounts did not have read/write permissions on the folder the game was installing to. After I gave both of these full access to the folder and re-downloaded through the galaxy client the install step completed successfully.

Maybe that will work for you if you're still having problems.

I'd love a step-by-step guide on how to do this, because all the methods I've tried have failed.
