Marvin: Hehe, no, that's just Infinitron's weird sense of humour. I don't own an account on RPGCodex. I guess he mistook my comment on SMA stating that I opened a thread abnout this issue with him being the origin of that suggestion. You can compare the time stamps however and see that this thread is older than Infinitron's post on SMA. :)
Besides, even if this thread was instigated by an angry 4chan mob, this does not change anything about the present situation or the factual evidence.
For the record, I'm Infinitron, and yes, it was just Codex humour.
JohnnyDollar: Has anyone actually publicly taken credit for the NewDark unofficial patch? My understanding is that the changes that were made with NewDark were most likely only possible due to leaked source code, and it's included in the SS2tool.
If that's the case, It's kinda hard for GOG to publicly give credit to the SS2tool author(s) if some of the contents contained in the mod may have possibly originated through unethical or illegal means. Then again GOG is taking credit for it, so maybe the publisher gave them the green light with it.
Just thinking out loud. Not really enough information right now until GOG or someone involved sheds a little more light on this..
I actually asked New Dive on their Facebook page whether they had anything to do with NewDark. They didn't respond to my post. I could have pursued it further, but I figured I'd leave that to the SS2 modding community (I'm just a dilettante here).
SS2Tool, on the other hand, existed before NewDark. It is it's own thing.
