Could a GOG employee or some such confirm what (if any) non-official patches this version is using to make it more compatible?

For example, is it using SS2Tool (http://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=4141.0), and/or NewDark (http://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=4128.0) which modifies the games source code.

I'm currently using a CD-ROM version of SS2, but for anyone interested in getting "the best" modding experience from SS2 I recommend this modding guide:

EDIT: I would wait till it's confirmed what's been done with the game before modding a GOG install though.

will be posting a basic guide as soon as I download the GOG package - until we know what's inside, we have no idea which mods are compatible and whether the guides are valid or not.

As far as I can tell NewDark's already included in this version (see System Shock 2\doc\release_notes.txt). Don't know much else about the game or modding it though so I'm still waiting for someone more knowledgeable.

Interesting that they would include NewDark though, considering it's unofficial. If they are doing that they might as well pre-patch Thief 1-2 with NewDark also.
