According to the page desription it provides new cosmetic changes: higher resolution, mouse look... etc. Could anyone please tell me whether it also gives any new content: new items, weapons, quests and whatnot? Like the Baldur's Gate Enhanced edition for example?

Not that I'm aware of. Just better graphics, improved controls, native Windows as opposed to DOSBox.
