I want to buy the deal this weekend, and only one thing left, which is: do both support widescreen? Any fix/work around?

Nothing official which isn't suprising as the games have prerendered graphics. I think they are locked in at 800x600 but if you have an nvidia or ati card you might beable to set a scaling option via the control panel.
I didn't intend to bump such an old post or anything, but how exactly do you scale the window through an NVidia control panel?

I wouldn't worry about bumping old posts ifs its relevent to the topic. As for the scaling options they are under 'display' tab and then 'Adjust desktop size and position'.
I see, so I take it I have to move my entire desktop to the top-left corner of my screen just so the game will run in the center?

No you can leave your desktop alone, just when you launch the game if you have scaling turned on it will automatically try to fit the game to your monitors screen the best it can. You can either select use nvidia scaling or nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio if you use an nvidia card, ati I imagine would have something similar.
I don't seem to have a scaling option under my display options. Do you think it might be because I'm using an older driver?

Hmm it would have to be pretty old I think. Is your monitor connected to your computer with a vga connector?
Yes my monitor only has a VGA port to connect with, though my card only has an HD and two DVI ports which I'm using a converter for.

If your monitor uses VGA scaling won't be possible I'm afriad. You would need a Digital monitor with either a DVI or HDMI connection.
Oh that's why. I think I remember a long time ago that LCD screens can't scale images or automatically try to fit in a 4:3 ratio in its screen. I kinda wish the programming team at GOG could at least warn us of the possible screen compatibility issues with such old titles at their information page. Do you think it's possible they could customize the code to fit all screens with this configuration?

The warning would be nice. I realized after I bought Syberia that my otherwise awesome monitor can't display 4:3 at all. Any video input, regardless of resolution, is automatically stretched across the screen.

On a positive note: This problem forces me to buy a new, bigger monitor that supports 4:3. I'm going to give the old one to my mother as a birthday gift.
What a shame, I have two essentially unplayable games on my main PC now.

It really depends on your monitor and your video card. I have a Viewsonic widescreen LCD display and it automatically scales older 4:3 content just fine without stretching. (It puts the black pillar bars on the sides.)

Yeah that didn't work for me even though I have a widescreen monitor under the same brand. As for my video card, I have a GTX 260 core 216 so I doubt it has anything to do with its compatibility.
