Put data disk in drive C, program won't continue. It is installed in drive C:, so I'm lost what to do. My main character died and then I got this message.

About 8 months later but I'm getting exactly the same thing. I don't see anything addressing this in the tech forums.....

Sadness.

SUCCESS (I THINK)!

After fiddling with this for a bit and discovering other ways to get the "Put data disk in drive C:" message, I discovered it in other cases too. I had a newly created unit march up to a city and as soon as I tried to enter I got that same message.

BUT, I think I figured out a workaround.

I just did a (Windows) link from ""C:\GOG Games\Sword of Aragon" to a subdirectory named "DATA" (in that same subdirectory).

Assuming this continues to work, my working assumption is that the programmers originally referenced everything to a "DATA" directory, then changed things at the last minute and missed this.

At least, it's working so far....good gaming!

3/7/23 UPDATE: Well it worked for quite a while. I ended up creating a DATA directory directly on the C: root drive. I honestly am unsure if that helped or not, because I got ANOTHER error....a program error this time that killed me. If I had to make a GUESS it was going to load up a random event/encounter but that's just a hunch.

I'll see if it's been updated at all recently, otherwise I'll (sadly ) have to move on.....

I can reproduce it when the main commander dies. To do it quickly, I start without standard units and unequip all equipment and lose the battles. I used the procmon tool, and see it's looking for a file called GAMEOVER. I created an empty file with that name and it gets passed that screen. I don't know if in other cases where the error comes up, it will look for the same or different file and whether it will work in cases other than this game over scenario.

After the game is over it asks whether you want to "return to game select screen". I noticed that it treats enter or click anywhere on screen except yes text, as no. Hence it is easy to think that the game crashed to desktop by accidentally clicking in the screen or holding enter from the previous screen - the user input handling in this game seems very janky.
