I've been looking to just play a custom game against a computer opponent in Stronghold HD, not Sieges or Invasions, but two opponents building bases and fighting each other. Is this even possible? I have Stronghold Crusader HD, where I can easily play against a computer opponent, but I would like to play on European terrain. I might be dense and just missing it. If custom games aren't possible, is it possible to load Stronghold maps into Stronghold Crusader? Thanks in advance for any help.

Unfortunately, there's no skirmish mode in Stronghold (HD). It wasn't added to the series until Crusader. In Stronghold you can only choose between attacking or defending a castle or playing an economic/building scenario without combat. Also multiplayer offers no AI players.

The good news, there's a mod project for Crusader to offer a European setting:
