This will probably be an easy fix but I can not for the life of me figure out what to do, I'm trying to place crenalated walls with a layer of stone in the back and then a lay of battlements in front.

This seems like a logical way of doing things but for some reason the game won't let me build my walls like this, I can only build the battlements behind my normal walls (which seems to defeat the purpose of them somewhat)

What do you mean by "battlements"?

If you mean towers and turrets, those are best behind a layer of walls (or at very minimum surround them with palisades). Due to their large size they are pretty much impossible to miss with catapults, and go down much too quickly relative to their high cost.

Sorry I meant the Crenalated Walls themselves, so for example I want the following (C for crenalated and S for stone walls)

CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

But the game won't let me do this for some reason, even if I have multiple layers of Stone wall. For some reason it WILL allow me to do this for a diagonal wall though. Is this meant to happen? I just want to give my archers more protection
It should let you build like that. There are a few things that might keep you from doing it:

- a layer is on a part of the land that you can't build on
- you're out of money

Besides that, you should be able to do that. In fact, that's what they're there for.

A classic design would be something like:

CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
CSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSC
CS XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX SC
CS XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX SC
CS XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX SC
CS+ XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX SC
CS+ XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX SC
CS+ XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX SC
CS+ XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX SC
CS+ XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX SC
CS XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX SC
CSSSSSSSSGGSSSSSSSSC
CCCCCCCCGGCCCCCCCC

+ = stairs
C = cren
S = stone
X = ground
G = gate

That's what I thought, but it's acting very weirdly. Is it possible to rotate the camera? Perhaps that would help

I can't remember if you can. If you can, it will likely be CTRL, SHIFT or ALT plus an arrow key.

If you hit a key (I think it's space) then it will take away the height and show you just the base of everything. That can be useful for getting things perfect.
