Does this run in dosbox? Nothing is mentioned on the product page but sometimes that detail isn't added right away.

Street racer had releases on Genesis, SNES, PS1, Saturn, Amiga and DOS, IIRC. Judging by screen shots, this is definitely not the SNES, Genesis, or Saturn versions. It looks like it might be the DOS version, but it's hard to tell because I've never played that one. But the terrain has real hills in the PS1 and DOS ports, they might be based on the same code base.
Yes, it's a dos game running in dosbox.

You can even go up to 640x480 resolution. It actually looks better than the snes and ps1 versions. I've only played for about 20-30 mins, so I can't say if actually plays better than those versions though.

Ok, it looks like an update happened yesterday and it's switched to the snes version :(

Not that the snes is bad or anything, but really disappointing after playing the dosbox version

If Piko is reading this, can you give us the option of either dosbox or snes? It's a bit mean to take the dosbox version away like that.
something definitely went wrong with the update, the offline installer went from 380.6mb down to a measly 15.7mb, GOG needs to fix this...

Yes, the update has installed the snes version and removed the dos version. The 380mb version was the dos version.

Ok, the dos version is still available, but sadly not through galaxy. You have to log in to GOG through a web browser, select Street Racer from your collection, and you should see offline backup game install for Street Racer Dos version. You can then download it. However, don't install it to the same place if you have the snes version installed. All the shortcuts will still point to that. I had to install it on a seperate drive and launch it directly from there (not through Galaxy)

When I try the offline backup through galaxy, I can't get the dos version to download :(

In Galaxy select "manage installation" -> "Configure" and select the beta channel "DOS", then it will auto update it and replace it with the dosbox version, worked fine here.

That's awesome! Thanks Kafkaa

Just tried it and it works! I can even launch it from Galaxy. I can see from the other thread you prefer the snes version, I'm just more a fan of the 640x480 mode of the dos version. I think it looks pretty stunning.

I have been meaning to test out the snes version on the widescreen version of bsnes. I don't know what Piko has done to mednafen, but on my 1440p monitor, the pixels are way off. It's like a 1080p screen being upscaled to 1440p.
