I vaguely recall finding the recipe on a paper ingame somewhere, could be a false memory though. Can anyone confirm if the recipe is found anywhere other than muffins.txt on the Stonekeep CD?

No, it's only on the disc. For a little while, Interplay established the habit of putting recipes on their game discs. (If I'm not mistaken, Fallout had one as well.)
