Maybe someone could make a Stonekeep mod for Legend of Grimrock? Or maybe the devs should be petitioned to make a Stonekeep sequel.

UrielDagda: IIRC, there was a Stonekeep 2 planned back in the heyday of the Infinity Engine games. Interplay commissioned Black Isle Studios to make it, and it got shelved it because, apparently, BIS felt working on a 1st person perspective dungeon crawler was beneath them.
No that was not the case. The game was in development for five years but Interplay canned it in 2001 as the highers up decided to have them start work on a S.p.e.c.i.a.l based RPG instead called TORN which in turn was scrapped for Fallout 3.

As for a Stonekeep 2 sadly I think this is the closest we will ever get

i actually asked brian fargo personally about the possibilty of Stonekeep 2 when he was on Reddit answering questions.

He said it was very unlikely as the IP belongs to owners of Interplay in France.

There was another stonekeep game made for the Wii, but it was just a cash-in thing.

KrazyKain: sadly a good sequal would fail.. why a good sequal? well a bad sequal wouldnt be anything like the original but would adhere to todays rules of a 'good' rpg and might be an elder scrolls oblivion clone, and will be popular (potentially), and possibly even a good game, but not in terms of a true sequal to Stonekeep.
But a GOOD sequal, one that WE want would keep the same gameplay, maybe enhance graphics but the essential gameplay would remain untouched... this would not appeal to the mainstream as classic and oldschool is hated upon by todays immature gaming community.
games like Legends of Grimrock prove that wrong. Things are changing, and there are indie devs out there. Of course it could never be mainstream on the level of say diablo 3 but still...

BTW the original Stonekeep itself had a funny history of a game that was almost shelved and nobody believed it would see tha light of day.

that is true, and I will happily admit that Grimrock has proven me wrong. It's not often I'm glad to be wrong but here you go :)
