So I'm in the Ice area and I start fighting those spikey ice ball things, and for some reason I keep turning without pressing any keys, vision randomly blanks out and I can barely go in the right direction. I'm getting to the point where I don't want to play anymore because of all these bugs.

Anyone else experienced this and have some kind of workaround?

I've only just started the game, but, could it be that this is not a bug? I'm just thinking - randomly spinning round "in the Ice area" might just be intentional - or am I being too optimistic with this game's capabilities?

I don't remember this happening to me, but I played it a while ago so I may be forgetting. If it is NOT a bug, it should be documented somewhere online, in walkthroughs / FAQs, etc. If it is a bug, I'm not sure how to fix it as I didn't experience it myself. Is this the first time the problem occurred? Was everything working fine until that point?
Alright so I seem to have fixed the problem, but I'm not 100% sure what I did that worked.

@WyE5JZhXEX
Well it may have been possible if it started at the start of the level, but it continued even after I went back 1 floor.

@Waltorious
Well I never got this far in stonekeep before, so it's my first time experiencing it and yeah everything was fine up until then.

First I got the latest patch, I'm not sure if I installed it correctly. Then I upgraded dosbox-0.73.tar.gz to dosbox-0.74.tar.gz in C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Stonekeep\DOSBOX. I went in game and it was still doing it, then I ate something and it suddenly stopped... Last thing I remember eating prior to the problem was something I obtained from the Faerie Realm. So yeah maybe it was something I ate, I'm really not sure, either way it stopped.

You know I wouldn't be surprised if eating something in the Faerie Realm would cause that to happen. It would certainly fit with the trickster-like nature of the faeries in the game.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, there shouldn't be any need to patch the game, the GOG release is already patched to the latest official version.

@Waltorious

I was under the impression that it was updated with the latest patch, but I wasn't sure how to check. And yeah I also thought something from the Faerie Realm could cause that effect.

You can check the readme.txt in the game folder. GOG's version is 1.2.

Didn't it also used to say the version on the gamepage on GOG's site? I seem to remember that from the beta days but I can't find version numbers on the site anymore. But I do know that it is the general policy for GOG games to be updated to the latest official version.

Yes, most games had the version number on the gamecard but they seemed to have dropped those after beta, have no idea why as that info was quite useful.
You probably ate or drank something that was from the Faerie Realm. Most of those items there will make you drunk, which causes the problem you are having.

It's pretty funny I think.

^This

years back, my dad had a problem with the screen jumping and his character turning. Few hours of trouble shooting and frustration later, we randomly check the journal and see it... Drunk

Woops, I just necrod. Sorry folks
