I know its Dosbox, but why no linux compatibility?

As a linux gamer I would love to get it here, but with no native port for dosbox, steam I am fairly certain I can run it with the Steam Linux install...

Well, if you're just looking for convenience, and have no objections to Steam, go for it. GOG is very unlikely to create Linux versions for DOS games if it hasn't already done so at/before game launch. I guess you could also try sending a request to GOG support, but again, I doubt that will have an effect.

Or, you can just use your distro's dosbox with the game, using the included config files adjusted for Linux. Adjust dosboxStonekeep_single.conf for Linux, and run with "dosbox -userconf -conf dosboxStonekeep_single.conf". Extract the game using innoextract if you don't like using Wine. Looking at my current install of the game, I see that I just replaced .. with . and removed the ..\ prefix from the CD mount and moved the C: line up one to before the CD mount (I run from the current directory, rather than from the DOSBOX subdirectory, which can be deleted as well). I also removed the [ipx] section, since it's off by default, and removed CR line terminators, but neither is necessary.

If you also want an icon, use imagemagick: "convert goggame-1207658671.{ico,png} and use the PNG you like the best (really, they're all the same, so use the biggest: goggame-1207658671-5.png). Then create a .desktop file (just copy one from a game you already own, and edit accordingly).
