Hello, just start playing the game version 2.2.4 and faced with a lot of bugs. Some of them are harmless but very annoying and some are game-breaking (like gaia terraforming removes districts). Is there a stable version of the game or may be an unofficial patch?
the current gog version is 2.2.4 (77d7) and there is an older 2.2.4 but I have not played that build or noticed this bug

Steam version is (by default) one version behind gog and you need to go over to the steam test server in order to match gog for team games

Anything 2.2 onwards has bugs and issues galore, and if anything the 2.2.4 version is a massive improvement over the last few iterations, which suffered such severe slowdown that made all but small and quick scenarios unplayable. You'd need to go back prior to 2.2 to get a stable version.

not an option with gog galaxy

Marvelous, sectors are completely broken, autobuild is not working, many other annoying little bugs and I have to go and buy the game once more in Steam? No just go to hell paradox, I did not pay money for being your beta tester.

I'd agree this is unacceptable. They completely overhauled a released game and dumped it right back to an early beta state. It's at least playable now that they've patched it a few times, but basically all forms of automation are broken and everything needs to be managed manually. I've figured out a few tricks to reduce the overhead, and gravitated towards strategies that require less micromanagement, but they've got a long ways to go to bring the game to where it was.

You could always use the serial keys from the GOG version / DLC to get it in the Paradox Launcher - which allows you to select versions back to 1.7.2 if I remember correctly

Thank you all for you advice, managed to get version 2.1.4. It is playable, no game-breaking bugs were noted.
I like 2.1.3 because the planet view is so much nicer with the tiles, 1 pop per tile, 1 building per tile, and the planet can hold as many pops as it has tiles, simple and intuitive.

Both systems are rather intuitive, but for me the big difference is that the 2.2 system is way more micromanagement intensive. You need to keep your housing, jobs, and population in equilibrium on every planet and if any of them diverge too far you will start suffering increasingly severe penalties.

I've taken to playing egalitarians lately because unemployment isn't a bad thing for them, and their high quality of living means it takes a long time of neglect before overcrowding penalties become a major issue.

Even so you have to constantly check all your planets because pop management coded by brainless student. Amenities goes very high or very low and you have to reassign pops from resource gathering to amenities jobs and vice versa.

Me too, I stick with version 2.1.3 because it's the most playable and enjoyable for me. I love the pops on planet tiles just for the groove of it. And I absolutely agree that it is simple and intuitive.

Also the fleet system (that wasn't implemented prior to 2.0 or so) I think is quite neat.

Though I'm still not getting over to miss the three different FTL drive possibilities from the pre 2.0 version. But I guess you can't have everything.

Considering all the versions 2.1.4 and higher ... there Stellaris is no longer a game for me, honestly. I have given up writing my opinion on Paradox forums since I supposet the devs will do whatever they want to do anyhow.

The last DLC that really convinced me was Utopia. After that I felt there was a real decline both in concept and story quality.

The whole planetary destruction mechanic being intruduced with Apocalypse DLC ... personally, I consider it to be a kind of Jar Jar Abramsification of Stellaris. But, admittedly, the game wasn't so much hard scifi even before neither.

As for the new planet system post 2.1.4: I think it is bulky, unintuitive and unnecessary. Also I don't like the new ressource system. But that is just my personal opinion, of course.
Im playing 2.1.4 because its the earliest version on gog. I absolutely despise 2.2+ and truly prefer 1.9 and earlier. I know we can get pre 2.1.4 on the pdx launcher, but I just dont want the drm. At one point before gog it was supposedly drm free even on steam, you could just copy your install. I think Im still at 1.6 on my desktop, I havent started that in a while, but Ill probably try to copy that to my laptop that I primarily use now.

Ppl can say cry more or whatever, but I dont care if they like 2.2+, I just dont. I played since 1.5 and it was the first game I broke and bought on steam. I just loved what it was pre 2.2 and pre 2.0. It just makes sense different empires throughout the galaxy would discover different technologies and it added more strategy to encountering different types of propulsion and weapons that you had to adapt to. Now they removed strategy and added book keeping with districts and about four times more resources to juggle, its just not fun for me beyond 2.1.4.

The pdx forums are cancer and they will ban you for expressing an unpopular opinion. I wrote a respectful, well thought out argument to keep multiple ftl drives and starting weapons and they deleted my post and threatened to ban me. I never posted on their forum again.

Those changes to the planets were post 2.2, 2.1.4 is just 2.1.3 with some bug fixes. If you search "stellaris patch" or "stellaris patch 2.1.4" the wiki will come up with every patch, the date it was released, and everything updated, fixed, or changed.

If you file a support ticket with gog they will give you access to 2.1.4 and the dlcs at that version that you own.

if people have Galaxy then your current best option is 3.1 ... what I'm using
all the 3.2 builds are different stages of busted since the ocean dlc having been pushed onto users without even basic testing

once the Steam only beta of 3.3 is finished later this month there should be some hope for fixes but Paradox will kick it out the door in any state so your guess is as good as any other

I think the above advice is now dated.

3.3 is out, for one thing, but I don't like the changes. Anyway, I'm still finishing up my 3.2 game under 3.2.2. I never had any trouble with that version, and I hear complaints about new bugs in 3.3 (of course). I don't think you need to go back to 3.1, but of course you can if you wish.
