bssybeep: So, I got the steam workshop download page to work to download mods directly. But the mods are not showing up in game. I used the following steps to install them:
1.extract to documents/paradox interactive/stellaris/mod
2.move .mod file to mod directory
3.At game start menu high light and select mod

Still do not see mod in game.

Anybody manage to get steam workshop mods working in game?

Miycu: .mod file needs to be in /mod
content zip file needs to be in the path inside the .mod file, you can check it by opening it with notepad or an equivalent.
