Like the topic suggests I own the game on steam too, but entirely for modding so I don't own any DLC there.
But how come the 3.6 has been released on steam for over 18 hours now, but there isn't even a mention of when its being released on GoG?
GOG is usually behind the ball with putting new offline installers up..

If 3.6 was only officially released .. today? or yesterday? it wouldn't surprise me if it stays at 3.5.3 until the weekend atleast for the offline installers. If you go via Galaxy (I use the legacy 1.2 version) for Stellaris however it does list 3.6.0.1 as being there from 8 days ago from this post but I'd rather use the offline things, guess I'm stubborn huh?

Edit: Attached a sc, for whatever reason it doesnt detect the actual install since I never use the launcher for it, I go straight for the exe file instead.

For what I could see regarding Stellaris, at least for the last updates, it was generally available the same day as Steam, sometimes about a day late for the offline Linux version (rarely even Windows offline it seems to me) for example.

The date you see in Galaxy generally does not match the date of availability, sometimes that date is days earlier than even the update with Galaxy (I have noticed this for other games as well).

I personally check the changelog on the GogDB site (https://www.gogdb.org/changelog - https://www.gogdb.org/product/1508702879#changelog) to know when games and updates are coming out.
It is currently updated every 2 hours.

Regarding the (offline) 3.6 version of Stellaris actually on launch day there were usually offline downloads of one or more versions (Windows/Mac/Linux), although maybe a few hours later than Steam.

I currently have updated from Galaxy, although I may not have time to play it very soon. When the offline installers arrive I should reinstall with those, to make sure they are not corrupted and will work.

I hope they arrive soon anyway.

I can confirm that. The last few Linux offline installers were always available on the evening of the patch release (possibly even sooner but usually when an update releases, I'm supposed to work).

Fuck it. I am leaving the platform. GoG literally is 2 days late with an update that I paid for. I might aswell pay steam at this point. Atleast I get the updates when they release for games I paid for.

Yeah I just noticed. I was in the middle of buying the DLC for steam I was missing so I could play there.

With GOG Galaxy Stellaris 3.6 was available from day one, but effectively I appreciate GOG for Offline Installers.

If I wanted to use another bloatware launcher I would have bought the game on Steam to begin with.
Unfortunately thats how it goes. I can't really blame GoG for being slower than steam considering their size difference. I just don't want to wait several days for an update that was released on steam and galaxy, just not the offline installer that I've used for probably 1 year now
It seems to be available finally. Both Linux and Windows offline installers are updated. My MiniGalaxy is already working on it...

IMHO I think is important to say these things so that GOG keeps in mind the critical importance of Offline Installers.

It's critical that they are there, that they are updated without delay or possibly give news if there are problems.

Having to report problems on forums or through support costs time and frustration, to the point of disaffection.

...And having viable alternatives even when it comes to buying games I think is a good thing to safeguard.
