After installing Startopia, I get a startup error: "Cannot find a compatible Direct3D device."

All my drivers have been updated to latest. I've run diagx and everything seems to be working fine.

Lil help?

Try getting the latest CardID.tom file from here, no guarantees it will help though:

Or you could try emailing him for a new file.

I tried the CardID. Didn't help. Not surprised since it doesn't look to have been updated since 2006 (my card is much newer).
I emailed him like you suggested. We'll see if he responds.

Seriously, I have been waiting for this game to come out digital for a LONG time... this is most disappointing!
Try the widescreen fix that jackfuste just created:

It's a new exe that fixes the stretching issues with widescreen. May or may not help, worth a try.

I did as you suggested. No luck. Thank you, though. I appreciate the help. This is utterly baffling. I'm not even sure what it's doing.

Hi, I think I might have a solution.

Go into Direct X Control Panel, go to the DirectDraw tab and "Use Hardware Acceleration" and activate if it is not already.

It worked so far for me.

Ugh... didn't work for me. I'm so bummed! But thanks for suggesting this.
Please email our Support department if you have any issues getting the game to start. Make sure to attach a DxDiag file as it helps chase down the cause of the issue. Thanks in advance :D
I did the dxdiag. I couldn't help but notice that directdraw is disabled, and direct 3d is only partially enabled unless I run it under 64bit. Could this be what is causing the problem with direct 3d? (I am dumb at the computer settings)
