Thanks, I was looking for this.
It didn't work for me (7-64bits). An error with memory buffering in C++ Runtime appears during loading screen after intros videos.
But I didn't look too much for it. Maybe there is a work through.
The patch works for me for everything except the shadows, anybody get them to work?

Well, Tom (Forsythe) did say the game didn't work very well with them, doing all sorts of silly things like redrawing everything multiple times. However, it may be worth writing the guy - he may not even know the game is back out, and he might be interested in talking to gog about patching it differently. Or fixing modern resolutions etc (:

His shadow pages - which for some reason seem to be offline at the moment - showing the shadows - looked pretty neat, but not game affecting.

And yeah, I want 'em too (:

Yeah, I may try to do that at some point. It seems like he works at Valve these days, pretty cool.

This patch got my disc version working when nothing else would a number of years ago. Good to see someone bring it up. Haven't tried the game on Win7 64-bit yet, but I have my fingers crossed.

Startopia had some incredible foresight among the developers, such as supporting resolutions that hadn't become standard on monitors just by coding well so the game detected them and supported them properly. Sad to see time take its toll via operating systems/graphic card drivers. The day I loaded the game up in 2007 to see 1680x1050 resolution supported with proper aspect ratio, I gained immense respect for the programmers on this game.
Looks like he took it down after seeing the StarTopia release on Steam for some reason.

Direct link still works though.. http://home.comcast.net/~tom_forsyth/startopia/startopia_patch_1_02.zip
Anybody else having issues with the patch? I cannot for the life of my make the shadows appear, not even as vague blobs. My computer is overwhelmingly powerful compared to the specs, there's no reason they shouldn't be working.

Geforce GTX 760
Intel Core i7-3820 @ 3.60GHz
16.00 GB ram
Win 7

Any suggestions?
