I've honestly never played any space sims before; they just didn't seem like my bag. That said, the sound of RPG elements and some of the videos I've seen makes Starpoint Gemini 2 seem like a pretty cool game, though, and maybe one I would enjoy vs some of the others I've looked at when trying to get interested in the genre.

That said, I've seen people saying I should skip SPG2 and go for Warlords since it adds quite a bit more, but WLs seems to have more RTS/Strategy game elements, and I'm not big on RTS/Strategy games almost at all.

With the information given, should I go for this game or WL? Or maybe something different entirely for somebody new to the genre? Are there any more games like this that focus more on RPG-ish elements and exploration?

It's pretty simple. If you want to roam the galaxy by yourself, capture other ships, mine, trade, bounty hunt and explore, Starpoint Gemini 2 is not a bad choice. But if you want to conquer territory and build your Empire, you can try Warlords. It's same core gameplay but with many added things, more ships, better graphics, dedicated soundtrack and all in all a bigger game. But SPG2 is cheaper so it might be a good start. You can always grab Warlords on a sale at a later date if you will like SPG2. :)

Thank you for showing interest in our game. :)

Thanks for the response.

SPG2 seems a lot more what I'm looking for so I ended up purchasing that, but if I can't get enough of it, I'll definitely look at Warlords.

SPG2 has much better story and space feels much less empty, whereas SPGW has much stronger structured sandbox mechanics and the ability to have fleets that work with you or independently (although you don't get any more control than where you put them), while still being very RTS-lite. Both good games in their own right, though. SPGW also has a much better perception of ship scale in my opinion.

I already own SG2 and think to buy Warlords because of its strategic elements added (4x). But will it contain the free roaming in space like SG2? Can I really fly and do battles in space in FP or 3rd person view in my ship, in cockpit mode, and e.g. deviate from the script by visiting other systems, can I deviate from the storyline (if any)?

Thanks,
