From what I've read, the DLC Secrets of Aethera was released last week (?) and it sounds promising with adding new content to the game. I currently stopped playing the campaign because I got the feeling that with the Helios I pretty much reached the end of the game as there seems to be no match against my ship any longer, but the DLC and the new stuff seems like a good motivation for me to continue/finish the main plot and get some new missions as well.

So will we see the DLC recently released on Steam for the GOG Version as well and if so when could we expect it?

Not only the DLC, apparently there is another patch that add quite some content too, and of course we still don't have it here.....

Sigh
I hope they release it on GOG soon. :)
Hi guys,
the last update with free content we released prior to DLC wil be given to you, of course. And soon, I hope.

As for DLC, it's something that need to be negotiated and agreed with GoG. Currently we cannot give you any confirmation on release of GoG version of Secrets of Aethera.

Rest assured we will talk to GoG team and try to find a way. I will keep you informed here.

I am sorry for this delayed reply, but we had a few really hectic days and we were not able to cover everything.

Thank you for replying.

Is there a way to migrate to Steam so that we can get access to the latest ver. and then buy the DLC? I love this game, and the waiting is annoying.

Personally, I've learned my lesson to limit GOG to old games that are no longer actively updated, heh.

I wouldn't check this as solved yet. :-/

Unfortunately, since GoG and Steam are not related in any way and since our publisher is not giving GoG version to Steam players and vice versa, there is no way to migrate. :(

I'm not saying that Secrets of Aethera won't be released on GoG, I just said that it was approved on Steam and that is not in any way related to GoG, so we have to see how GoG handles DLCs and under what conditions we can release it here.

GoG guys are friendly, but they don't have Steam's logistics so things take more time. Also, GoG was famous for Good Old Games, games that ALWAYS worked when you bought them, unlike Steam where half of the old games just crash or won't work due to compatibility issues. But on the other hand, new games are not given proper treatment on GoG, that's also true. I kinda hope that Galaxy client will solve all that and that it will be released quickly.

As I said before, the process of updating Steam version of the game is a piece of cake. We just upload the update and that's it, all users get it automatically. Here, we have to make a separate build (remove Steam achievements and some other thing), send it to GoG. Then GoG teanm test it, repack it with their packer and push the update here. That's the reason for a delay between Steam and GoG.

Anyway, we really appreciate your support and we understand that those delays are frustrating sometimes, but the process of updating GoG version is a bit longer than on Steam.

As for DLC, we will do our best to release it on GoG, but I cannot give you any confirmations yet since we don't have any specific info on that. Of course, I will keep you all informed. That's the least I can do as a part of dev team.

Too late Buddy, problem solved. :P

No really, for the moment I guess we have enough information to know that you are working on it. Keep us up-to-date if you know more. I will probably just wait some more before I continue, at least until the next update. As long as you do not tell me I have to start a new game for the DLC anyway if it will be released for GOG at some point in the future?

DLC has two parts; Campaign storyline and other DLC content like new station, ships, side missions, ability to craft your own weapon and new event - Ghost Incursions.

When you install DLC you will have several options (our intention was to give you as many as we can):

1. Load your finished campaign and progress to DLC storyline (you need to have finished campaign)
2. Load your freeroam save and if you're high enough level progress to DLC content (minus the storyline).
3. Start new DLC game. You will get starting ship, you will get some perks and skills and start on lvl 35 and you can progress to DLC storyline and content.

And of course, if you're new to the game you can start new campaign or freeroam game. When you reach high enough level (freeroam) or finish all missions (campaign), you can progress to DLC. :)

Thanks for the information and i look forward to the update and dlc in due course. I do have the game on steam as well but i am trying not to buy games on steam anymore when i can get them here in gog.

Anyway keep up the great work i do love this game and i hope it has sold plenty for you guys to continue with the franchise.
Thank you for your support, that's what's pushing us to improve the game and work even harder. :) The community around this game is amazing and I'm so glad we got so many young and old mature gamers that share our love for space games, not just SPG2. On our forums, people often talk about Star Citizen, Evochron Mercenary, Elite: Dangerous, Sins of the Solar Empire, X series, and we often join those discussions cause we are not just devs. We are all gamers and share the same love. :)

Heck, I pledged Star Citizen, I'm playing Elite since Beta, I bought Homeworld Remastered which will be released today on Steam, I'm waiting for Limit Theory and No Man's Sky... :)

I did not get any of those, especially not Homeworld its missing Cataclysm. Well there are always other ways of getting digital goods muhuhahahahaha. Ehem I mean yeah not on my to do list.

The worst space sim I ever owned was the Battlecruiser series SHUDDERS!!
Homeworld is indeed missing Cataclysm which was as awesome as it gets and with fantastic story. But hey, for a price I got remasters AND originals so I won't complain.

And since drunken, stoned devs managed to lost the master Cataclysm there won't be any in the future. Sad about that. And unexplainable, but it was '99., ecstasy was booming back then. :D

I would be happy to attend one of those Relic's parties where you manage to lost master copy of your game. :D Must've been a hell of a party, hahaha. :D

Drunken stoned devs? LMAO now I got juice all over my keyboard thanks.

I can imagine RELIC running left and right trying to search for their copy. Could be a nice comic skit, RELIC looses it!

I still have the original Homeworld on CD but the fact that the game is practically free to download kind of kills the whole remaster edition bit but then again it comes with Homeworld 2. Would be a nice bundle but there is just something about remastered games I don't generally like. It can be as worse as devaluing oldies to missing features or in this case cut content. I have the entire D&D GOG collection except for the remaster editions as an example. I just don't see what it could possibly have you couldn't experience on the originals, in the D&D case most of the games have mods that bring it as close to the remastered collection anyway.
As for remaster, after 10 hours, I have to say that it's cool. It supports 4k resolutions, it can look amazing with Depth of Field, Advanced Lightning, HDR Bloom, there are many effects that make it different experience while keeping the original Homeworld story and charm. :)

I tried classic HWs too and they are cool, but liitle outdated compared to remaster. Comparing HW2 classic and remaster, there is nothing to complain about in remaster. It's kinda cool.

Still, many people reported bugs and crashes so it's better to wait for a bit although I had zero problems in 10 hours.
