I bought starpoint origins 2 from the description that it was like Freelander which I played years ago and really enjoyed. I was going to buy the original game when I noticed that it was included as a free dlc. So I start playing the original game which I have been playing for 30+ hours now. I must day that for a freebie it is an awesome game and I must thank the developers for including it with the updated game. This means that I will be very likely to buy more games produced by this crew as they obviously care about the people who have bought this game. Add to this the fact that the original team was only 4 people then origins is remarkable with a strong storyline and good graphics. Keep up the good work

Well devs announced new Titans DLC for SPG2 to be released in November and their next game, strategy-oriented sequel Starpoint Gemini: Warlords, in their "Starpoint Gemini 2 celebrates 1-year anniversary" post on steam so more is comming. SPG Warlords should show up in Steam's early access program sometimes during Q4-2015 so let's hope we'll see it here too when it's ready for release. I just created a wishlist entry for it so feel free to vote.
Origins DLC was something that players asked us to do. They didn't ask it to be free though, but we felt that charging Origins would be like double-charging the first game. But the fact is that Origins is probably the biggest free DLC ever released and we're proud of it. :)

Original game was made by 4 people and without any budget. All programming, art, 3D modelling, scripting and even voice overs were done by 4 people.

Starpoint Gemini 2 was started and mostly done with 4 people, but the team grew then to 9 people and we used some outsourcing artitsts for some parts of the game (like planet backgrounds), voice overs and stuff like that. We did had some budget from first game sales.

Starpoint Gemini 2 will get it's final DLC Titans next month, it was also a community wish so we decided to go through with it. After Titans, we will fully focus on Warlords. Titans will be paid DLC (like Aethera) but rather then just throwing 2 ships in in, you will have storyline missions that will lead you to Titans, several new ships, stuff like that...

Thank you for your support guys. We will continue to be open and active in the community so whenever you have any questions, we will try to answer as best as we can.

Fly safe, captains! :)

I know this is a very delayed response but I just wanted to say posts and interactions like this are a real part of why I'm happy to continue doing things supporting your games and picking up the new Titans DLC on release day.

Keep up the great work :)
Thank you, RoseLegion, we are really trying to be honest and respond promptly to our players and I'm glad that both on GoG and Steam people recognized it. We will continue to support our players no matter which platform they use.

As a Community Manager, I'm constantly reading forums, talking to people and it has really been a rewarding experience. Most of our community are mature players and it's nice to be able to talk to them not only about Starpoint Gemini 2, but also about other games. Afterall, I'm a gamer for much longer then dev. :)

Unfortunately, big AAA teams cannot talk to people on this personal level, simply because those companies have a different hierarchy, not because they don't care. But with rise of the Indie teams and games, communication with players reached a whole different level and I'm glad for it.

I love my job! :)
The store page says "Now with Origins dlc" but I do not see the Origins dlc listed in my account I got the game on gog today is it really out or has it been delayed?. Also is Titans dlc really only 30mb?
Origins is out for months now. When you start your game, go to DLC and choose Start the game with Origins DLC. If that doesn't work, something didn't download properly. If that is the case, please contact us at oliver@starpointgemini.com with your save game, log.txt file from your game folder and a short description of the problem so we can see what happened.

Titans introduce 4 new ships and storylines for each of them. So basically it's 4 new ship models and text for missions, that's the reason why it's not bigger. If we were to introduce new planets, game mechanics or something like that, that would mean considerably bigger download.

Titans were actually not planned originally, but our Steam community asked us if we could implement them in the game so here they are. :)
Hey, just got the game, looks cool.
Would you suggest playing Origins first or the base game for SPG2 first ?
Great support from the devs, way to go!

Thank you. :)

I would suggest going through SPG2 first because Origins are harder. And it's a different storyline, happening 20 years before SPG2 and you have a new captain there. So, basically, SPG2 first for new players. :)

All in all, just by doing campaigns and some freelance missions, you have more than 100 hours of gameplay, but some of our community members have over 2000 hours in the game.

Fly safe captain and welcome to our space cantina. :)

I just picked up SG2 on the big sale here, and being a space game nut, had to give it try right away. Have to say, I am really enjoying it so far...so much so, I just bought the two available DLCs as well. I also think it's awesome that you guys monitor your forums, as well as the one's here and at Steam to interact with players....kudos to you guys! On that note (heh heh), I would like to ask about the DLC's. I already know that it's best to first play through SP2, and Origins afterwards; but what about the other two? Should they be played in any natural order? Do they pick up after SP2, so shouldn't be added to the game or played till later? If you start one, will it conflict with another later, so you need to re-install SP2 first, before engaging a different DLC? Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this. Also, already greatly looking forward to Warlords in the future :D
Hey Zoltan999,

first of all thank you for your kind words.

As for DLCs, it's simple. You can play the game with both DLCs enabled. When you reach certain level, you will be able to start Aethera short storyline and get access to new Keppler station and other Aethera features (about lvl 38). When you reach lvl 65, you will be able to start Titan questline and get Titans. So basically, always play with all DLCs enabled and they willl be available once you're high enough level.

Origins is different because it's original story, happening 20 years before, with another captain and different factions and stuff in the universe so even the map is a bit different. That's why it's a separate DC with separate save.

And even if you start the game with all DLCs today and with no DLCs tomorrow, it's not a problem.

There is also a separate possiblity to start the new game with Secrets of Aethera, which would give you lvl 35 character and place you practically in front of Aethera content.

If you'll have more questions, please ask.

I was out of town last week so I missed this post.

Thanks much for your reply zzokalj. I'm currently at lvl 40 in the current campaign, and just activated the 2 new DLC's as you suggested, so looking forward to see where they lead me when the time comes. Will definitely give Origins a try when I am finished with this play-through, as I never played the original game, so looking forward to that as well.
You and LGM keep up the great work!
