Just wondering if it is possible to increase the font size in the tutorial / Tip boxes. On my monitor the fonts are so small I cannot read them. Preferably I would like to increase the font size if possible rather than reduce the screen resolution currently 1280 x 1024 (19")

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards MarkL
Good and bad news.

Yes it is, through mod available on Steam Workshop.

That's also a bad news. It's not possible in game without that mod.

Thanks for the reply,
Could you give me the name of the mod so I can check if it is available anywhere else?
If it is not if you have it and it is not very big could you give me a PM and I can give you my email address for a copy?

Regards MarkL
It's called BigFontsMod on Steam.
Good luck, I hope you'll find it somewhere.

If you don't, I'll try to download it and send it to you by mail or something tomorrow.

Try here. jumbo.iskon.hr/download/be2244a2-cff5-485b-8612-f1fc32825a94

I downloaded the mod in my folder, then rar it and upload it to some kind of cloud storage. Not sure if you will be able to download it.

If you do, just unrar the folder, put it into your Mods folder in game install location. Then fire up the game, go to mods, click on Big Fonts Mod, Install it and then Activate it by clicking the checkbox.

Let me know if it worked. :)
Hello zzokalj,

Thanks for uploading the mod. I managed to download it OK.

I "unrared" and put it in the "mods" folder but when I start the game and click on mods nothing happens.

Do you have to do anything to get the game to look at the mods folder? I noticed the extracted folder

"BigFontsMod" had some sub-directories. I also tried with those and also just copied the "FontsTable.ftb"

directly into the "mods" folder but still nothing. Tried every combination I could but nothing shows up

when clicking mods.

Also tried to replace the games original "FontsTable.ftb" with the modded one still no luck.

Looks like it will not work for me. I may have to wait till the developers fix the problem.

Thanks again for your help.

I'm not very knowledgeable with mods, I will ask devs what could be the problem.
When I downloaded the mod in my folder via Steam workshop, I just needed to Install and Activate it in my Mods options in-game.
Ok, devs responded. I forgot to add some files outside mod folder.

I uploaded all again. Plus I included More banners mod for more customizable ships and I included MinimalHud mod for better looking, more modern HUD (I use it).

Try it now.

Actually just unrar and then overwrite complete Mods folder to make sure all files are copied.
Let me know if it works! :)

Cheers!
Hello zzokalj,
Works this time. I have also being playing around with different screen resolutions.

Most text is now readable. In the tutorial boxes the text on the left box is a lot more readable than the text in the right box that indicates the keys to press for some reason, but I can live with that till they fix the problem with a patch.

The mods show up correctly now and it looks like you just click in the box to activate the mods you want, nice and simple. Giving the other mods a go as well.

It is good to see the developers answering questions, a rarity these days.

Thanks again for your help.

Regards
Yaaay, glad to hear that. Than it was my fault since I forgot to add those extra files. Noob... :)

Devs are really active on Steam forums and official forums, I kinda said I'll help new players here on GoG since I have enough time.

There are only 7 of them, and between updating, patching and developing new content it's a bloody miracle they find time to answer the questions. I really respect that. It's rarity, you're right about that, unfortunately.

You have this movie about them so you can see how they are if you're interested. :)

ty zzokalj, that helped!
That link will be available for a week I think due to site restrictions. But if it doesn't work anymore, just tell me and I'll upload it again. :)

Actually, if I find a free site that has big storage, I will upload most popular mods. Will take some time though.

The BigFontsMod works but has the side effect of messing up some UI with words / titles wrapping onto the next line, sometimes overlapping other UI elements.

I hope the devs can improve the text properly. It is too small and blurry.

I'm playing on 24" 1920x1080 resolution and everything is sharp for me. What resolution are you playing on?
Not sure, but mod can mess things up in the game. Devs made an effort to give us totally moddable game, but that also means that sometimes mods will screw something up.

The smallest fonts I have ever seen are on EvE Online. :) But got used to it too...

Playing at 1920x1080 on 27". The text looks clear at native 2560x1440 but the text is very small and I think the HUD was small also. Also the game ran slower at highest resolution. I play lots of games with text and have never encountered small blurry text like this. It's so bad I wonder if there is some anti-aliasing or scaling problem that myself and some other users are experiencing.
