I wrote based on my local time (mountain standard) on when GOG usually updates for me on the rare occasions that they update on Saturday.

Updates for GOG's versions of games have often some delay (it may takes several days), but as soon as they have it, they try to provide it.

Concerning the update of Stardew Valley, I think that there are good chances it will be available monday or tuesday :)
This is the first "new" game I bought here on GOG, didn't know it'll take them this long to update. Oh well, lesson learned.

yeah gog must improve on this front

i buy games over here anyways because i want to reward devs that offer their games drm free

but yeah i REALLY hope the patch situation will get better soon(tm) here @ gog

I buy from GOG for the same reason. That and I have heard horror stories from people who had to deal with Steam support people.

I really hope GOG speeds up their patch deployment soon.

I'd be glad if it won't take weeks like it did for some other games... If it's here tomorrow, that would be ok, but I agree: GOG absolutely needs to improve their update speed. It's the only thing I envy Steam-users for compared to GOG.
As far as I know, in Steam, the devs put up the patches themselves, which doesn't work for gog. So Valve doesn't help in that regard, it's the closed system named Steam. And I absolutely don't want THAT.
but "holding back" patches cant be the solution either

i dont see a conflict between drm free games + devs are allowed to upload patches whenever they want to do so

am i missing something ?

One could argue it would be possible for the Galaxy-client to have that feat (as it delivers the game files only), but that would clash with the option of downloading the installer files, which have to be encoded first, and that has to be done by the gog staff.

But this is just me guessing, as I don't even know everything that goes into the process.

On Steam, Devs have direct access to file servers allowing them to upload, modify, verify and push out content as soon as it's ready. I've been expecting GOG to adobt same system since Galaxy came out (was rather surprised to find out they did not implement it before introducing in-dev games). I'm sure separating dev accounts from user accounts is first step towards this. It's matter of implementing systems and tools to make it possible and making it reliable, secure (you don't want 3rd party to access something they should not, even by accident) and easy to use to allow devs/publisher to use it.

While users who don't use Galaxy won't see direct benefit from it (unless they also implement system that can autobuild the direct download files based on dev uploads), it should remove some of the delays caused by current implementation (so we won't have to wait weeks or months for dev to bother upload patch on GOG).
