Today, I found out that my friends games automatically updated through GOG galaxy. Since I'm hosting on a linux system, I can't let them join my game because our game versions do not match. When will the updated beta be released for linux?

It's up to the developer. He currently has only released the beta to Galaxy and Steam users:

I would like to echo this. I am trying to play with some friends that (unfortunately) have the game through Steam. They're already on 1.3.15, which is much newer than the 1.3.11 we have and won't allow games to connect.
Has anyone found a way around this? My partner and I want to play together, but we have mismatched versions (he uses linux). I'd be happy to downgrade mine if I could, but doesn't seem to be an option.

I ran into the same problem with my sister. Well, now she's using Linux too.
Guys, manage to by pass this.
If you go to the game settings in the client, you can stop the game from auto-updating (sub menu: override features). Well, turns out that if you that then you get to choose the version and even downgrade. I'm adding screenshot for clarity.

Hope this helps!
Cheers!

Ah, actually the problem my sister had was that all the options there are grayed out. So you can't actually do anything. And galaxy says installation fails with configuration error, when all the files are already there and the game is playable..

That's a really nice find ... for those who can use the Galaxy Client at least :)

Is she the owner of the game? This may be the issue. If the game is somebody else's have that person log in to the client and the options should become available. Then you can upgrade / downgrade the game to your convinience

Thanks! Took me a while to find, so I thought I'd share the info.

I'm the owner, she was logged in with my credentials, so that's not the issue.
