When I attempt to open Stardew Valley, a popup appears saying -

"No suitable card found.

Could not find a Direct3D device that supports the XNA Frameword HiDef profile

Verify that a suitable graphics device is installed.

Make sure the desktop is not locked, and that no other application is running in full screen mode.

Avoid running under Remote Desktop or as a Windows service.

Check the display properties to make sure hardware acceleration is set to Full."

I've checked online, checked dxdiag.exe, and DirectX 11 and Direct3D look fine, and I've repaired the XNA from the install files, and I still have no idea what my problems are.

Specs -

Dell Inspiron 560
Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E6700 @ 3.20GHz (2CPUs), ~3.2GHz
6144MB RAM
DirectX 11
INtel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family

No idea what any of this means, so please help.

I've been on that post before, and checked out another. I've looked for the AppData folder, found it, got into the Roaming Stardew Valley folder, but there were no error logs. As I've said I've downloaded the XNA Framework. repaired it, uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but I still can't launch the game. I have a similar problem to that guy, I think.

Play button is green, installed without a hitch. Then, I press play, it goes gray for a while, then that error pops up. I'm going to reinstall it, see if that changes anything

I had this problem on my wife pc but fixed it. Like many, MANY games recently, the problem is that it is not equipped to understand some audio configurations, especially when audio is expected but not found. As soon as I enable audio (in this case by plugging in headphones into dynamic auto sensing port) game starts instantly. Many, many games refuse to launch lately if audio is not working or unexpectedly fails.

Very strange behavior.

What kind of graphic card does your computer have? You didn't mention this in your first post. Maybe you only have an older Intel on-board device that doesn't support DX11.

Do you maybe have a link for your configuration on the Dell homepage, or a specific product number?

Edit: According to this page the graphics device could be an GMA 4500 or maybe up to an Geforce GT 220... And even Dell says that these two cards do not support DX11, but DX10 or 10.1 respectively. But It should only need DX 9.0c anyway, so ignore this. Do you have the latest DirectX 9.0c version installed?

God, I have pretty much no idea what this means. I just want to play this game. This is the second game I've had a problem with, the other being KOTOR 2. At least this gives me some kind of base as to what's wrong.

This all doesn't matter anyway, as Stardew Valley only needs the newest DirectX 9.0c, which doesn't get installed automatically with newer windows versions. I'm sorry for the confusion that this may have caused.

So here is another question: Do you have DirectX 9.0c installed? That's a separate version which is needed for a lot of (mostly older) games.

As far as I can tell, yes. When I try to install it from Microsoft's website, the instillation instantly finishes and takes me to the 'finish' screen. So, once again, I have no idea what's wrong and no idea what to do.

Win 7 pro, 64bit.

After installing XNA Framework, doing a wonky d3d9.dll manual copy that I found in some steam forums, updating my graphics drivers to the latest (crappy intel g33 chipset,) verifying that I had DirectX 11, I gave in to insanity and installed DirectX 9. Now, dxdiag still says I have DirectX 11, but the DirectX 9 installation completed immediately with no errors, and Stardew Valley launched immediately, for the first time.

I'm counting this as a win. Hope this helps someone else who has already tried everything!
