I can't seem to figure this out. Is there some way to set the game up so that it always launches in fullscreen mode? I can't seem to find a config file for it.

Some people online suggest going to the options screen and setting it to fullscreen there, but I've tried that, and while that does set to game to fullscreen, the game launches, by default, in windowed mode, even if you restart after saving a game in fullscreen mode. Furthermore, since you can only access the options menu from *within* the game itself, I can't use fullscreen mode *while* starting a new game or watching the opening cutscene.

I'm just discovered that loading a saved game also loads the fullscreen mode associated with it, but again, what I really want is to be able to just *launch* in fullscreen mode, like most games.

Considering that fullscreen mode is the only one that isn't giving me any problems, at the moment, I really could use some means of just launching in that mode, please.

Locate the following folder: C:\Users\%PC Account Name%\AppData\Roaming\StardewValley, right-click the file startup_preferences and search for the text '<startWindowed>true</startWindowed>' and change the true to false. This will result in the game starting in the borderless window mode which is effectively fullscreen - you just can't change the resolution.

I've just tried this, but it was already set as false, and I was still getting graphical problems. It wasn't the same as actual fullscreen mode.

I have the same problem, just as you have described, and I have tried to change the parameter of the startup_preferences file and there is no way to launch it in fullscreen, at least I am glad to know that I am not the only one with the problem.
Anyway, it's been a few years since this post was written so I don't know if you've solved the problem.

I did, but the game doesn't really have this issue anymore; at least not for me. When you open the game, there's a little square in the upper right of the screen, which you can click to go fullscreen. Then, exit the game. From that point on, it starts off in fullscreen every time you start the game, as long as you don't go back into windowed mode again before quitting. This should work with the most recent version of this game, without needing to go into any files or do anything.

I've tried what you said but it doesn't work, it keeps opening in windowed mode, I should clarify that I'm playing the compatibility version (which doesn't have any changes, just that many mods won't work, I don't use mods anyway) because the normal version it has fps drops since the game changed its architecture, so I don't know if that has something to do with it.
