I'm running Xubuntu 16.04 on a Dell 5551 with 4G of RAM and right now the game is skipping and lagging like a thing that skips and lags a lot. I tried searching for ways to fix it (It's real bad right now in Fall with all those stinking leaves) but all the answers are for Windows, which, I could run Win10 but I don't really want to. Is there a way to fix it short of a reinstall? I'm still on Year 1 so it wouldn't be an absolute tragedy but I'd rather not.
Having this same issue. Not sure if they're related, but I had the *exact same* thing happen with Gunpoint about a year ago. Made the linux build of the game completely unplayable.

I have no problems with the Linux build. Also, had no issue with the initial Windows build in Wine.

I have got the same problem, too. Running on plain Ubuntu 16.04 LTS x64.
The game seems to run fine for a minute or two and then it starts to get progressively more choppy until the graphics completely freeze. The background seems to keep running and it is possible for example to hit the key 'E' in order to bring up the menu (I'm calling it such in lack of better description). This freeze will last for a minute and then the graphics start running again. Choppy at the beginning then progressively smooth again. Very strange.
Hey, guys. I found a temporary workaround. I play in windowed mode, and whenever the graphics freeze I alt tab out, minimize the game, and alt tab back in. This seems to unfreeze the game screen. I am able to open a menu in the game (so that I don't lose any in-game time while I'm doing this) while the screen is frozen, though I can't actually see it.
