Hello fellow crawlers,

firing up the game today and loading my savegame I was immediately greeted by some Ominous fellow, asking me to search for Skull Candy.
The problem is, the dialogue finished, it immediately started over - endlessly. There is no way out. Also regardless of the save game I tried.

Anyone else encountering this? Any way to prevent it (other than changing the system's date, which I can't do for technical reasons)?

Same thing happening to me.
I wonder if their lunar new year code messed up the Halloween code. Is anyone able to play now without getting stuck? If so, what version are you on. I'm on 1.1.3.3,

I have the latest version through Galaxy. Should be 1.1.3.3. but I can't check right now.

I wonder if we are the only ones trying to play this right now. I can't find any other mentions of this problem.

I spoke too soon! https://steamcommunity.com/app/318970/discussions/0/1638668568129879628/

Looks like there is a fix, but not yet available on GOG.

Got an answer:
Hi Tom,

Thanks for your email and sorry for the trouble! I've submitted a patch to GOG to address this bug, but for some reason the update is not appearing on Galaxy or the GOG site for download.
I've contacted GOG about the issue and hopefully they'll be able to fix it soon. Infinitie candy leads to infinite headaches :D

Cheers,
- George

Look for the patch on Monday. In the past on other games I've found that GOG generally does not do anything over the weekend. This is unfortunate when - as is the case now - the game is broken till the patch goes out.

GOG is manned by a skeleton crew only on weekends. And they're busy to sort out order and payment troubles. A few years back GOG was essentially dead on weekends... It's fine with me though, people deserve their weekends, and I have enough games to play :-)
Patch is live. Launched the game and it works. Sadly the Galaxy 2.0 beta can't show a changelog as of yet (or I'm too thick to find it). So I don't know when it was rolled out.

I'm not a Galaxy user and the patch is not available in the other two places yet. That's all right. There are lots of things to do that aren't Starcrawlers.

-edit- patch pushed and verified that it works.

I had this problem.

I repaired the installation. I uninstalled the game, then re-installed it. Then I uninstalled it and all my save games (by this time I couldn't be bothered to copy them, since I had only reached level five.)

What surprised me was that the customizations I had made (graphics options and resolution preferences, sex and names of class characters, amongst others) were still there even though I used a Registry cleaner. (Windows 10 64 bit home)

I can happily report the bug disappeared when I re-installed the game for about the fourth time, after a pause of a couple of days, a couple of days ago. (I have not downloaded the patch.)

Registry does not have anything to do with it. Only a fraction of the games use the registry for storing settings.
Starcrawlers saves the config in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Juggernaut Games\Starcrawlers\ and this won't be deleted on un-install.
The savegames are in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Juggernaut Games\Starcrawlers\SaveGame\ and those should be deleted on un-install if you choose so (if not, it's a bug somewhere).
But if you use Galaxy and have Cloud-Saves enabled, they will be restored when you re-install the game.

Btw. I hate that many games store stuff in AppData - not only is it immovable from C:\ so they take up precious space on the system drive, but also most backup-programs which cover "user files" (documents etc) ignore this and the subfolders for good reason (lots of temp-trash-data). Settings and savegames should be in %USERPROFILE%\Documents, which you can move to a more convenient drive at will. Of course a strict userspace model a la Unix/Linux would be even better, but Windows doesn't have that...
Testing...

(apologies)

Thanks for the information. :)

I suppose that's why I can't find the game saves for Shadowrun, since they will be in AppData. *eye rolls*

Consistency! It would be nice if everyone used the same place for storing the same things. The crazy nomenclature sorta helps, I guess (LocalLow? really?) to make it memorably significant, but still.

As for Unix, yeah, Windows was designed as a single user OS (bastardized CP/M), then rebuilt as passive multitasking (Win 3.11) and then rebuilt again as (supposedly) multitasking (NT, IIRC). (I haven't paid much attention since the new millennium, so I guess I deserve as much trouble as I get. :/)
