Why decide to join games in development on GOG?
We were at a point in Starbound's development where it was already pretty fun, so we decided to release the game in beta through early access to ensure the community has a chance to help us shape the game.

Approximately how long will this game be in early access?
It's difficult for us to give a solid release date-- we're not so good at those, we've learned. Starbound still has a ways to go, but we'll keep you posted via our website!

What do you plan to change during development?
The full version of Starbound will contain a plot and sidequests, more dungeons, more bosses and lore, among other features.

What is the current state of your game?
Starbound is already extremely playable and contains a vast amount of content in its current state!

Will the price change on release day?
The price will likely change after release!

How can the community participate in the development process?
We post daily progress updates on our , and we're always hanging around [url=http://playstarbound.com/live-chat/]IRC.

When, approximately, is the full release planned? A month, two months, three months?

HAHAHA! So young! So Naive!
Cool, I've been waiting to see this on GoG. I've got a few questions though on how you're planning to do updates on this version.
- How often do you plan on updating the downloadable binary?
- Will there be an standalone updater .exe for grabbing the latest changes, ala Don't Starve?
- What about the unstable/nightly builds? How will those be accessed?

Don't even expect an answer, really. :D I just keep hoping that something will actually be said on the subject, since it appears impossible to get a damn answer. If I just knew, I'd probably grab the game already. :P
Wow, after the Ashes and Zomboid FAQs this one is just so... let's go with "uninformative", to be nice.

Well first it was 2013, then it was 2014, then it was 2015. 2016 will be the year of Starbound, there's suppose to be two more big updates before the big 1.0. If the trend holds then it should actually come out sometime this year since they muster up about two big (relatively speaking) content updates a year that get pushed to stable.

I'm just guessing it'll probably be done sometime around Christmas, or just in time for Christmas. All of this is based on my own personal observation from having owned it since it came out on Steam and conjecture you understand.
Plus, you know... They update their dev blog with what they are working on fairly often. Sometimes daily, sometimes every couple days. On steam people have access to what is called the nightly build (for those who don't follow steam), which is exactly what it says, what the devs had done that day thrown in for testing. Glad to see that the DRM Free version is officially here now, so they kept with that promise.

As for the "Taking too long" Yeah, they kinda did screw up on the release dates big time, however they're really hard at work getting the game to it's 1.0 state, with survival aspects coming back in the next update as well as the promised fossils stretch goal from the pre-order campaign. I'm guessing sometime in Spring for 1.0, early-mid summer at the latest with how much they've done since the last update. I just hope this forum doesn't become another place that does nothing but bash the devs, call them scammers, etc like Steam's forum does. There's obviously a difference between being critical and pointing out mistakes or flaws with how the company has handled Starbound's development, and just slinging horrible names like liars, scammers and the like.

Although right now I must also admit, while glad to see Starbound get it's DRM free version. My eyes are on tomorrow as Chucklefish will be making an announcement on Stardew Valley, a game they are publishing. (probably the Single Player Release date) so I'm kinda like Temmie's battle sprite in Undertale with anticipation of that. (the spazzing XD)
system requirements are fair :D very nice

but : Graphics: 1280x720 minimum resolution
is not .... i have many new games here like punchclub: insta buy, and it supports 1024x768
so if they can and most other devs can aswell , then maybe you can try it aswell ?
with 1024x768 and the latter scaling to the detected hardware and screens, you will be getting that extra amount of potential buyers
I have 400 retail cd/dvd with in total 1000 casual games on it all run at 1024x768 or higher...

if you are serious you wll always try to squeeze in 1024x768 (old monitors and crt monitors)
i cant go higher, i need to stick with crt screens as long as possible for reasons modern screens are not an option for me (medical reason)

Well if it comes down to that I'm sure they'll just ban everyone, again.
Ah, darnit. And I don't suppose there's a chance to get this game on GoG when you already bought it on Steam?
I bought it two years ago (well, it will be two years tomorrow actually) and never thought it'd appear on here at the time, but when given both options GoG would have my preferences...

No big deal if it's not, buuuut consdiering the project is still in development I felt like it was worth asking it.

Glad it came to it, though :D

Exactly what I'd like to know too :)

Sometime after the next World of Warcraft game comes out.
Does purchasing the game here allow one to setup/run a dedicated server without Steam/SteamCMD? I can't find any guide to setting up one without it, even though there's a Humble version.
In the minimum sys requirements it says network: broadband internet. Surely, that's not just to play the game, right?
