SpringPower: I used the X Wing in the Training ground, and got my badge! Took out the Y wing, and got put in my place. I can't get past level 3! Wow! Is that thing tough. So I think I am going to use the force. Is there a way I can edit any files to get credit for all 8 levels on the Y wing? If not, any suggestions? I tried adjusting lasers up 1, shields down 1 as well, and still nothing. Granted, I am not hitting all the targets, but, I usually get around half. Suggestions?
cschock: The Y-Wing is a brute. A slow brute, but you can fix that... sort of. I suggest you set ELS to Engine 100, Shield Zero, lasers 75/100. Use the dump energy to shields from cannons key as needed to top up the shields. And set cannons to single fire and take advantage of the accuracy of the Y-Wing's closely centered laser set-up. Then hit those targets! The extra time will get you through. You can often hit them from VERY long range (even before you clear the previous gate).
Yeah, hitting the targets down the run on the next platform is key to getting level 8 with the Y-wing. Also, keeping your speed and shields up. For a while, you can get away with double-front and no rear shields, but eventually, they start posting rear-facing turrets.
Another option to maintain decent speed and shields is to leave shields at normal, and then set lasers to one recharge setting up, and keep dumping into shields. You won't be quite as fast, but you won't have the shields constantly draining.
