Hey all, I need help setting up X-Wing vs Tie Fighter on lan. I just want to play it with some friends, but I don't have any idea how. Could anyone tell me what I should be doing?

Just use Gameranger and lock the room. As the host, be sure to turn off the "Playing over the internet" in-game option in the XvT config when you start.

You could also simply click on host game in XvT and give your private IP address to everyone else. But the above option is easier.
