GekoFreako: What joystick/ flight stick would be recommended for this series? I don't need top of the line as I would basically just be buying it for these games, but I don't want something that will break down or snap off in my hands. However, as i may look into other space flight sim type stuff after this if I really enjoy the experience, maybe something whose compatibility is fairly flexible. Hopefully, my question is not too unclear. Thanks for any help!
Thrustmaster t-16000 (

It is programmable (which is invaluable for old games since they often won't let you configure the buttons), has the twist rudder, is cheap enough but not made of tissue paper and if you get involved in advanced flight simulators can be expanded by buying the thrustmaster throttle piece separately.
Other options:
Logitech Extreme 3D pro
Similar as above, only Logitech doesn't manufacture a throttle piece to go with it, but it's still programmable although the software for programming it isn't as supported as the Thrustmaster or CH Products one, it's almost hidden on their website. It may be extremely cheap depending on where you live though.
If you want to go vintage there are the more costly CH Products sticks (
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ch+combatstick&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Ach+combatstick ), but they cost more, and while I personally prefer them they are indeed already premium tier though much cheaper than the Warthog and more reliable than the Saitek stuff. Also they don't have twist rudder, personally I don't miss it even if I don't have pedals but this might be me since I went directly from a basic usb stick bought in the late 90s/early 00s to the Combatstick last year.
However, whatever you do, do not buy Saitek, while they have been bought by Logitech at the moment all the Saitek branded sticks are essentially the same as they were under Madcatz: costly stuff that breaks easily and often isn't that comfortable to use.
