I had recently purchased the X-Wing series as it was recommended by a friend of mine. After installing the game, things seemed to be fine, so I started up The Maze and began to learn the controls. Firing seemed fine until about Level 2, when the game just failed to see my Thrustmaster T.Flight 4's trigger. It only seems to be this version of the game, as DOSbox and X-Wing Alliance sees the trigger just fine. Any suggestions on what I need to check or is a reinstall guaranteed?

Which version have you installed? Floppy or CD?
Because the floppy version was a bit wonky in the controls department.

Originally, the 1998 Windows edition. I moved onto the DOS CD version and things are fine.
