I occasionally get the folowing error on Tie-Fighter:

"The GPU device instance has been suspended. Use GetDeviceRemovedReason to determine the appropriate action."

I use MSI Afterburner to underlock my card settings. That worked on X-Wing, and seems to have reduced it on Tie Fighter. However, I still do get this error, at which time it crashes to desktop. Very frustrating on a long mission.

Any other suggestions besides underclocking?
Fix what's wrong with your system making it unstable when playing, underclocking shouldn't be required by any game, old or new.

How do I figure out what's wrong with my system, though? I agree underclocking SHOULDN'T be required, but it's commonly listed as a solution for similar problems with playing X-Wing SE on modern systems.

There is a DX11 wrapper for the SE editions and XWA, use that instead, link:

It also allows to scale the 3D graphics resolution to that of your desktop and put some anti aliasing on top, plus it eliminates LODs making the textures a crisper especially on smaller ships.

Thanks. Does this work with Tie Fighter too? I installed the ddraw.dll and the cfg file to my Tie Fighter folder, and the game won't launch. I did replace the ddraw.dll with a different version to initally get the game running a few days ago.

This fork of the same wrapper should work for all 4 games

Sorry for all the questions. When I click on the link it gives me the following files:

impl11
.gitattributes
.gitignore
And several TXT files.

The first three options lead to more files. Which ones do I get to obtain the necessary replacement for Tie Fighter?

Those files are the source code; for the compiled binaries follow the 'releases' link (above the colored stripe) and from there download the most recent 'xwing_xxxx.zip'

After working for several months, suddenly I'm back to the same error. I've installed these fixes, but they no longer seem to work. Any other suggestions?
