Now this isn't a question of the *best* craft but I really want to ask what your favorite is? Which craft fits your style? Which do you feel comfortable in? Do you feel "kickass" in? :D

Mine is the Assault Gunboat: Its slow, heavily shielded and even more heavily armed. If I cant catch you, my missiles will
A-wing. A nimble little thing, the TIEs never know what hit 'em. Also good for bugging out (at 180 speed) when outnumbered and excellent for inspection races. I can run circles around any IMP in that thing. Fits my flying style perfectly, although I hate the lack of firepower (only 2 blasters).

The empire has many-a-good crafts but they rarely appear in the campaign like the TIE defender and missile boat.
My favorite IMP craft - Skipray Blastboat - total badass.

I'll have to say A-Wing as well. I've always loved the design, since I first saw it and in every game it appeared in.

For the Imps I'd go with the TIE Interceptor, a slightly slower A-Wing with four laser cannons instead of two. :D
With a group of friendlies, X-Wing for its versatility and firepower.

Otherwise, A-Wing or the Arrow. Oops, wrong game :P
I lack the creativity to specialize, so I have to go with the X-Wing.

OH GOD. I flippin' LOVE the XG-1 "Star Wing". That's the "Assault Gunboat" in the Games.

Cygnus Spaceworks XG-1 "Star Wing", 10 meters long, 15.1 wide, 7.2 tall.
For Sublight 2 Dual Line Ion Engines, Default Power 90 MGLT, max. 1.050km/h for Atmospheric Flight, Hyperdrive Capability.
100 SBD Shield Projector, 50 RU Quadanium Steel-armored Titanium Hull.
Twin Laser, Twin Ion, as well as 2 Launchers for 16 Advanced Cuncussion Missiles total.
1 Pilot, up to 100kg Cargo, 3 Days worth of Consumables.

Higher YPR [more maneuverable] than X-Wing, B-Wing and Y-Wing, more nimble Fighters like the A-Wing and T-Wing should be taken on from further away using Missiles and/or Beam Weapons, but other than that, it's fine. Whatever the Enemy might throw at you.

In Fiction, I have a captured XG-1 for my own Use, the "Phoenix", even before joining the rebel Alliances Cause with it for some special Operations. It's customized with a blackish and red Paintjob, and lots of illegal Black Market Stuff, like Dual ID System with fake Imperial ID, a Sensory Cloaking Field Device which tends to burn out in the worst Situations, a Magnetic Mine Launcher aimed backwards for Tailgaters, and an AI with Personality and limited Control over the Craft. Not exactly Stuff that'll help your Ship through legal Registration, but hey~ =P
I like any craft with quad lasers, I find it easier to take out fast TIE's/Rebels with it.
I like the Tie Defender. It's fast, maneuverable, and has good amount of firepower.

glad to see another Gunboat fan :D

Ive never liked flying the A-Wing, felt like a paper plane. When Im flying as a Rebel I preferred the X-Wing. Though it has no great strengths, it also has no weaknesses, which I prefer

Well, I love multi purpose Craft. Especially after learning about the Missile Boats SLAM, I'd love to have my Phoenix with SLAM Upgrade as well. Feels kinda balanced enough, though it might ot be as useful with the Star Wing as it is with the Boat, because the Star Wings Missile Capacity is lower, but I kinda love the Thought of Millenium Falconish Systems - awesome Stuff, that's totally not build for your Craft, and thus will fail - when you last expect it. Stuff that makes flying your Craft more difficult / complex, but offers Advantages you might need in certain Situations.

The XG-1 was never meant to be a Craft for every Job without Backup or Wingmen, so, if I wanna make it be suitable for surviving these Situations if I'm alone out there, I should Han Solo it a bit. =P
Wish I was able to do so ingame.

However, as for Rebel Craft - I always loved many of these.

The Y-Wing, it looks so cool. Sturdy, old, like it has that certain Character to it. Also, I'm a Sucker for its tight Cockpit Design. Something about less Visibility makes me feel more immersed, so that's definitely a Factor.

The X-Wing. The Cockpit feels weird most of the Time, as if there was no Nose to the Craft in front of you - but the Wings man, the Wings. I'm continuously operating them. They're only open if I really do engage a Target with Lasers. If they're closed, Laser Energy goes to the Engines.

The B-Wing - I love it for its folding Wing Design, and it's kinda what the Star Wing is for the Imperials, as it has everything. Lasers, Ions, Launchers. Playing with those Wings, again! Awesome. Flashy, but rather immersive. The Cockpit has a noticable more modern Feel to it, but it's too... open, too little of an Encasing for me to be really happy with it.

The A-Wing. Ah, well. I'm performing pretty good in them, but - they're too... small. There's so little to them, because it's their Design. They're two Engines with Lasers on 'em basically, and the Cockpit is almost nonexistent - again, don't like that too much. I never go for one myself, but I'm good with 'em.

And, the Z-95, aah~ the Headhunter. That thing got Character, on par with the Y-Wing, though it's more suitable for Dogfighting, the Cockpit is again, too open for me. Old and Sturdy, with Cables and Stuff, always like that - but too open. So, yeah.

Millenium Falcon, who doesn't love that Thing? That's the very Definition of a Ship with Character. I've got Models from all of these Ships, TIE/Ln, Lambda Shuttle, Snowspeeder, Naboo Fighter, A-, B- and X-Wing, still need the Y-Wing... but, from all of these, if I had to chose, I'd definitely keep the Falcon.

But, one more Thing - wondered about my Name? Well, wanna know what unusual Craft I loved, as well? The Supa Fighter, used by the Black Sun Syndicate in XWA - mainly for its weird Design [kinda preferred the pointy old design over the curvy one though].

Also, the TOSCAN FIGHTER. Dude, that one is awesome. Reminds me of a Mashup between the Y-Wing, X-Wing and A-Wing. And it looks like it's much more modern and High-Tech. I love it!

As for the TIE Series, the TIE/Ln and Interceptor happen to be my Fav ones. Sure, Defender and all, but I don't like that strange Mess of Wings. If I were to go for more advanced TIEs, the rather look at the TIE Phantom. Rebel Assult II, very awesome.

I agree, the Z-95 is a cool ship, but it's so fragile I have a feeling that it will fall apart if I accidentally sneeze :-) Love the old-school feeling and the manual laser convergence system (nobody mentioned that cool feature!)
Manual Laser Convergence? Explain? Explaaaaain?
Would love to hear about that, which Game?

Love it though, it's not really fragile - just old! Back in the Day, they didn't have all those fancy strong Shields!
Also, it's been through a lot of Stuff yet.

In X wing Alliance, the Z button (or Y, depending on where you're from) will toggle the laser convergence on the Z-95 to 0.25, 0.75 or 1.25km.

TIE Defender. Why fly anything else, really?

The convergence made things like X-Wing and B-Wing absolute killers against small TIEs.
