Also, a very subtle difference with the DOS floppy release and the DOS Collectors edition is that object positions seem to be defined using more precise math, preventing the weird 'wobble' effect when you turn or approach things from a distance.
So I take it what we have is:

http://www.mobygames.com/game/star-wars-x-wing
http://www.mobygames.com/game/star-wars-x-wing-imperial-pursuit
http://www.mobygames.com/game/star-wars-x-wing-b-wing

for the "94"/Dos Version

instead of:

http://www.mobygames.com/game/star-wars-x-wing-collectors-cd-rom

for the "94"/Dos version (although it also says windows on that page even though the 2 are different- the windows version will be same as the one listed below)

and we have this:

http://www.mobygames.com/game/star-wars-x-wing-collector-series

version for the windows versions? (-of course the 3rd in the trilogy).

What versions of Tie Fighter are there for the Dos versions?

Note - If you do get the collectors CD DOS versions, please keep the floppy versions as well.

Yes GoG, any official word on this would be great.
Really could use the 1994 CD edition of X-Wing, GoG! The equivalent for TIE Fighter would be nice too!

They are being steadfastly quiet on this point.
Yeah, I just stopped by the equivalent thread in the TIE Fighter forum... Very, very pleased to see these games go up in any form, but losing out on voiced-Ackbar briefings and such is kind of a let down. Here's hoping they revisit this.

I'm confused, I just fired up Xwing 98 version and the full voice acting is in there, Ackbar is talking away.

Or are you guys talking about the older dos versions? Because they are the floppy versions, the one I originally owned so long ago now. I feel so old, haha.

I prefer the Windows versions included here for it's far superior joystick support.

I noticed the lack of digital sfx and voices too and sent a couple support tickets to GOG about getting this fixed. I got my own copy of X-Wing CD working on DosBox just to remind myself how it's supposed to be and boy is difference dramatic.

This really needs to get fixed.

There's three versions: floppy, DOS CD-ROM, and Windows CD-ROM.

What we've got here is the floppy version, and the Win CD version, but not the DOS CD version. You can find out what they added in the DOS CD version, but it's a big improvement over the floppy version (added digitized voices to mission briefings, added gouraud shading to X-wing, and a few other graphical improvements). The Tie Fighter version allowed Tie Fighter to be played in 640x480 resolution, and improved some graphics in the cut scenes, and added the Enemies of the Empire campaign (which only came on CD-ROM).
There's a post in the TIE Fighter-equivalent thread that GOG doesn't have the rights to the DOS CD versions.

Very annoying. All we can do is hope that, as they put out other old LucasArts games, they also release these as well.

Hmm. Well, we told GOG what we want and we need to keep doing just that. Maybe they can include both games in another deal. They already have an agreement with Disney, so I hope and believe there is a chance for that.
Random question: Does this missing DOS CD rom version have mouse support? or is it joystick only.

It is important to make your voice heard, and being persistant while being respectful.

Mouse is supported. It's only '98 versions which force the use of a stick.

X-Wing is still stuck at 320x200.

I'd suggest you all grab the dos collector version from archive.org; I linked to it in the tie fighter thread.
