Yes.

My explanation on another topic. But before you do this, switch this hex value in TIE95.exe. TIE95.exe - Offset 099ED0, Value: 00 6A 00 E8
As we all know, Nvidia cards have a severe problem trying to run Tie Fighter and X-wing with 3D acceleration. Game keeps crashing.

While trying to run MechWarrior 3, I seem to have found a solution for them. Game now runs without locking up my computer or CTD.

Go to your Nvidia Control Panel

-Select 'Manage 3D settings'
-Select Tie95.exe or X-wing95.exe as a program to customize
-Change following values from the list:
- Anisotropic filtering to off
- Vertical sync to on
- Triple buffering to on

That's it! You're done. If you've enabled 3D acceleration as per instructions on this thread, the game should now work without crashing on your Nvidia card. I haven't tried this on X-wing yet, but there is no reason for it not to work since it's the same engine.

I also changed Power management option to Prefer maximum performance because the game was giving me BSOD and kernel-power event 41 with 3D acceleration enabled. But this is not really necessary now that the game works.

Let me know how it goes if you try this.
My drivers are 344.75
Hmm, those control panel settings seem to have fixed the graphical corruption in game without killing explorer.exe in task manager!

Yes I've done all that following the very same instructions you just posted but it doesn't work. The problem is that when you start the combat sequence everything is invisible, you can only see the cockpit and after that it freezes. My drivers are 347.52 on a GeForce GT 440, not much of a card I know but runs whatver a throw at it decently without problems or lags. If I'm not misstaken your drivers are for Mobile cards right?

I even tried using the original win 98 CD Collector's Edition since I own it but the same happens when you enable 3D. I hope someone comes up with some kind of patch or better yet, PLEAAAAASE GOG FIX 3D!!!!!

It's probably drivers. I would suggest reverting to some 344.xx version. 347.xx seems to not like TIE Fighter very much. As for my drivers. No. They are for a regular desktop card. I play this on my older computer with GTS 450 card.

I wouldn't count on GOG to fix 3D acceleration. They've done all they can and disabled it because 3D was unreliable.

Here is my TIE95.exe with 3D acceleration enabled and ISD Laser Patch applied.

Software mode works fine? Also check in your NVIDIA Control Panel if anti-aliasing is forced on TIE95.exe by chance.

Yes the game Works fine in software, and no it's not forced I turned it off, went as far as 332.21 drivers and the same result, things turn invisible when you use 3D hardware. Guess I'll have to play in software mode.

Sorry, mate. I'm truly stumped as to the reason for such game behaviour. If I think of something else, I'll let you know. Believe me, I know how you feel. Been searching for a solution to my 3D acceleration problem for months. Found it totally by accident, while enabling 3D in MechWarrior 3. :)
