Well, as you might have noticed, GOG disabled 3D Hardware support...for good reasons. Though you can still select it (weird), it will not activate or flip back to non-accelerated 3D. The good reasons are, that once you activate real 3D acceleration via graphic card, it will certainly lead to graphic glitches, especially, when forcing antia-aliasing and alike.

But, on the other hand, it looks a thousand times better and for a lot of folks out there, it works like charm. Including me, running on Win7 64bit, Nvidia Geforce 650 TI.

You will find an unofficial, unsupported patch at vogons.org. Search for:
X-Wing + TIE Fighter for Win 95, GoG edition Hardware 3D toggle

It will re-enable the 3D-Hardware setting.

You're welcome...

There is already a thread for this: http://www.gog.com/forum/star_wars_tie_fighter_special_edition/reintregrating_3dacceleration_kind_of

Maybe moderators could sticky this for everyone to see?
Sorry, missed that one.
Hahahahh gotta love the self righteousness of the original post tho.....
...which counts for your reply too, then?
Should I excuse myself for offering help?
Strange attitude.

It's very thoughtful of you even if there was a topic already. You wanted to help out and that's what counts. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. ;)
Hahahhaah yes dont let the nasty man upset you.
Does it play better better with 3d acceleration on? seems very dark on the pictures. Do you prefer 3d on or off?

Thanks to the OP btw.
Can't really understand the darkening of brightness, in my case, with the hexpatch suggested at vorgon, that effect does not occur. It actually looks a hundred times better with 3D-acceleration.
Anyone have any luck getting this to work on an ATI GPU?

There is ATI/AMD fix on the topic I've linked to in my previous post on this thread. Try that.
