Hello,
SotE runs at least twice as fast as it should on my very old Laptop (CoreDuo P8600 2,4 GHz, 4 GB RAM, GeForce 9400M G). I've compared it to some videos on youtube. The viper probe droids showed right at the beginning of the first part of the first mission are a good benchmark to compare, in my case they are hopping up and down like hyperactive bunnies. Has anybody the same problem and is there a solution?
Thanks
You must use a FPS Limiter. I use Nvidia Inspector but runs only with Nvidia GPUs.
I've enabled the frame limiter but still having trouble, which line setting do you use?

Nevermind, I fixed it.

Enable vsync in your graphics card driver?
Hey guys, thank you for your answers.
So I have to use external ways to get the game running properly? I can't say I like that.
I've tried it (vsync=automatically on), but it doesn't seem to help, it's still too fast (vsync is in both ways at 60 Hz).
some problem here, games runs way to fast.

GTX 970 Windows 10, i have a 144hz Gsync monitor, maybe that is causing issues too. Setting it to 60Hz makes no difference

Also, when in the in game menu, my mouse always moves towards the top left hand corner of the screen

how can gog release a game that is not running properly on modern system.
i would expect a proper running game and not a wreck that has to be patched with several files to get it running the way it should be.

if you are having trouble you can try this page it has serveral fixes and workarounds to get it running the game.
maybe it will help somebody

you could also try to use DXGL it worked for "Outlaws" another lucas arts game with the graphics

What is 'too fast' to you guys? The overall game speed seems good to me (vsync'd at 60Hz) but some parts seem to run too fast, like the probe droids bobbing up and down like crazy in the very first scene.
dash runs way too fast it's tough to control at times everything else seems fine in the flying sections
Is it possible that GOG has quietly fixed this? The speed at which Dash runs for me is how he's always run (meaning, in 1997). Droids are moving at the proper speed for me (no crazy bobbing), and I'm not having any control issues (other than the fact that it's possible to move too fast if you're accidentally pushing forward with your mouse as you turn, while pressing "W" or the up arrow (all three methods are used to move forward).

They released a hotfix a few hours ago:

Patch 1.1 hotfix (04 May 2016)
Corrected typo in the game setup window
Set fog to "ON" by default for all versions of Windows.
For Nvidia cards we've added an Nvidia Profile with a 60 FPS limit.

Ah, that explains why my fog was already set to "on" as well; I'd forgotten about that. Thanks!

I used Nvidia inspector and loaded shadows of the empire under profiles and then set the frame rate limiter to on. I forgot to hit apply changes in the upper right hand corner. After that it worked fine. You card might be different than mine (mine is an older 560m on an asus laptop) Play with the settings on the frame rate limiter. It works, Walkers were kicking my snowspeeder butt in no time flat (forgot how clunking the controls were).
I never play the game on PC originally, but to match the speed of the N64 version i've set the nvidia profile to 30fps.

That way the droid in first level stop bouncing up and down like crazy nad move more like in the N64 version.

60fps was still too fast.
