korell: Oh, I found a nice alternative to cockpit view to solve the camera issue. Press the Home button for the forward looking camera. It sits on the back of the starfighter so the camera never lags behind. It isn't quite the chase cam of F1, but it does give a wider field of view.
It doesn't work at all for bombing, though.

Spinorial: It doesn't work at all for bombing, though.
Well, I only recall two missions where you fly a Y-Wing for bombing runs, and you could just switch to F1 view as you approach the target then go back to the HOME view afterwards. It worked very well for the mission where you fly an A-Wing in the cloud city place, though. Wish I'd found out about it earlier as I'd already finished the game by the time I found it.
