Use nGlide 1.02: http://www.zeus-software.com/files/nglide/nGlide102_setup.exe
You can't get widescreen (unless you stretch it, which makes it ugly), but you can get, say, 1440x1080. And 60 or more fps, which is also neat.

The nGlide does work, kind of. It will run and look great, but it'll crash after every mission. Also in the configuration menu for nGlide(not in the game) I had vsync on, which would crash my game before I started. It also gives you the camera glitch, where the game camera gets super far away from your ship, forcing you to reset or suicide while in cockpit mode.

Personally there's too many problems with it that it's not worth it for the digital version. We'll probably just have to wait for a user made mod/patch or for GOG to somehow patch the Voodoo effects into the game natively.
