Anyone know how to get a 360 controller working on this? Thanks!
Yeah. My Xbox controller worked fine from the menu (I could access every submenu with you), but didn't during the game. I've got to go inside the "Joystick" controls menu to calibrate it. It was just able to calibrate it as "Default", but from now my xbox360 controller works very fine with the game.
360 controller does not work and is not detected by the game at all. It is detected by the external launcher, which you can access by going into the directory for the game, although you can't launch from there.

It's strange, you can open the original games config.exe (C:GOG games/Star Wars - Rouge Squadron 3D/ ROUGE /ROUGE) and the xbox 360 controller is recognised, even the D3D drivers recognised.

So, why no 360 controller support and software mode when you start the game? It makes no sense.

I've been told, on good authority, you can buy the original games CD and it will run the x360 controller out of the box.
keep in mind that this game was before the 360 or even the xbox i think
but it should find the gamepad if all else fails use a mapping utility
So is any extra software needed to get an Xbox 360 controller to work with Rogue Squadron on Windows 7?
That's really bizarre, my 360 controller worked fine out of the gate...
As already said:

Go to C:GOG games/Star Wars - Rouge Squadron 3D/ ROUGE and click on the ROGUE.EXE

Then a Startmenu opens instead of the game. There you can configure controls and set your XBox360 controler as default controler.

Yeah, that doesn't actually work. It still isn't recognized in game.

I'm using a wireless 360 controller, and it would help if people specified whether they're using a wired or wireless one as they're technically two different devices.

Do you have any other controllers plugged in? I have had issues with old Lucas Games on new systems, if you have more than one controller plugged in and set the one you want you still won't work. So I have had to unplug all controllers but the one I want, including flight sticks.
Unfortunately my wireless 360 controller is not working either. Whenever I try to map a button it just pops up with "Button 1" regardless of what I do (almost like a DOS game before you've calibrated the controller).

I'm having terrible mouse lag when i try to play using the mouse too.

I don't, unless some other HID I've got plugged in is causing problems (it's happened in the past, notably with Dark Souls 2). I actually tried it with a wired controller as well just now (making sure the wireless one was disconnected first), and it still wasn't recognized. Very odd. It's not really a problem in my case since I can live with the keyboard controls, but it would be nice to find out the cause of this issue all the same.

Mine too and with quite good default mappings.

Mine is a wired controller if that helps.

Hmm, I noticed when playing XWA that it was trying to use my Blutooth adapter as the input even thoug I had it set to joystick. So I had to unplug my USB blutooth adapter and then restart the game. I have had other Lucas games do this to me. Still seems odd that you have to go to that measure just to play when you think something would recognize defaults.

This isn't a gog thing it's been like this even with Disc copies I have.

I'm using a wired 360 controller.

I have no other controllers attached. The only problem as I can see it is my mouse and keyboard are also USB, like the controller. Not sure if that would effect it though, but it would explain why it's working for some and not others.

I'd use a mouse but it's so laggy it's impossible to play.
