Hello everyone,

Same problem here : I have a XBox one pad, connected through USB. I can see it in the launcher, but not in game.
In the settings menu I cannot affect a button to any action (I just have the dashes, or Button1 if I click with the mouse) and the pad does not respond in game.

My keyboard and mouse are logitech devices connected to a single Unifying dongle.

Does anybody have an idea on how to activate the pad in game ?

I just want to put my 2 cents in here. I also have a wireless 360 controller, and I cannot get it to work with the game in Windows 8.1. As others have mentioned, the configuration tool under ROGUE.exe will recognize that it's there, but I cannot get it to accept it in-game.

I tried everything you guys suggested over here but it didn't work! The game won't recognize my xbox 360 wired controller! I wonder if it is because my mouse and keyboard are USB... Well, hope someone finds the solution...

Same problem here with a wired 360 controller. Mouse is also so laggy it's unplayable.

I also can't get my wired 360 controller to work. It shows up in the launcher, but if I try to launch the game from there, it says to reinstall from the original cd, which is impossible for me. Trying to configure it in game, and nothing works.

On my pc, Windows 8.1, neither my Xbox 1 controller, my wireless 360 controller, or my ancient Sidewinder joystick which I used to play Rogue Squadron so freaking long ago worked. I installed it on the family computer downstairs, Windows 7, and the 360 and Xbox 1 controller both worked perfectly. Haven't tried the Sidewinder.

Found a solution for the controller issue that is working for me.

- Copy and paste the entire Star Wars - Rogue Squadron 3D folder to your desktop. Do a search to find if needed.
- Open the folder "Star Wars - Rogue Squadron 3D>Rogue", right click the Rogue Squadron Application
- Select Properties and go to the compatibility tab
- Under Compatibility mode make sure the check box is checked and select "Windows 98/Windows Me" from the dropdown

- Open the game, the menus are very slow but that goes away once you start playing
- Go to the settings and the Joystick section
- Click Defaults, all of the controls automatically mapped for me

This worked for me on Windows 8 with a wired 360 controller. Hope this helps some of you.

I just got a message telling me to reinstall the CD. I'm using a wireless xbox controller too :\

Worked perfect on a wired xbox one controller.

This solution works, but let me just say you don't need to copy/paste the whole folder to your desktop. Just open the game's folder "Star Wars - Rogue Squadron 3D" from wherever you installed it. From there, go to the folder "ROGUE", and right click on the file "Rogue Squadron". Click on properties and then go to the Compatibility tab. Under this, you can change the settings to Windows 98 / Windows Me.

Note, if the Compatibility mode box is greyed out, select the button near the bottom of the window that says, "Change settings for all users" in order to select which version of Windows you want.

This fix worked for me for both my Logitech Attack3 joystick and my wireless Xbox 360 controller (although not when they were plugged in simultaneously). I also am experiencing the menu lag, but it appears to go away once you're into the game itself. If anyone finds a fix for this, it'd be great.

The compatibility mode method isn't working for me for some reason. But I did want to pop and say that when I moved my mouse around, the menus moved equal to my mouse speed (up to their normal speed). So if you've applied the compatibility mode method and your menus are going slow, just wiggle your mouse around and see if that helps. ;)

Update: Found the problem I was having. I had disabled a driver while trying to get a different game to work with the controller. Enabled the driver. Boom. All set. Thank you guys for the help!
