I envy the people who are having problems with the game crashing on the main menu, because I can't even get that far. The game won't even boot up for me. When I try to run the game, I get a blue spinning circle on my cursor for a few seconds, and if I look at my Task Manager I can see it booting into memory, but then it just stops. No error or anything.

Anybody know how to fix this problem?

I've got the same problem.

remove your save directory
Star Wars - Republic Commando\GameData\Save

try running Star Wars - Republic Commando\GameData\System\unrealed.exe after, if it also crashes not sure what to tell you -- (state your hardware, system maybe dxdiag but censor private data from it) inside of unrealed you can go to view>advanced options and test settings - sometimes you can do great things there -- the options will be saved to your profile.

You can also try removing \Star Wars - Republic Commando\GameData\Movies\ (movie files) i remember it caused crashes in past for few people.

Did not work :-( I can start unrealed.exe, but it crashes when scrolling in the texturemaps..
I have a "normal" Win7 x64 with an ATI 7990 nothing too fancy .. Did also not work :-( (I can play the movies in mplayer, though)

Yeah, didn't work for me either :/ Got to the splash screen on UnrealEd, but it crashed almost instantly. Deleting Movies and Save directories didn't seem to do anything.

No it doesn't work, it would be too simple :)

I sent a ticket in to GOG support a few days back, and this is the response I received: Unfortunately, none of these suggestions seemed to work for me, but maybe some of you will have better luck.

Well, seems like I`m not the only one! game is fine on main screen but crashes on `new game`. I tried the `Run as Admin`- didn`t work. I`ll try the others and see if that works...

Annoying.

Have you tried setting bump-mapping to low? I hear that fixes the crash on new game issue.
