Ok, heres a question.
If I wanted to reverse engineer this patch for another star wars game (rebellion) how would I do that?

xap4oru: I updated my patch to work with GOG version and resolutions smaller than 1024 high

Download - dropbox.com/s/zzyfux616l5pwv9/SWGBWide.zip?dl=0

Instructions:
1. Copy with replacement all files from GOG to {PathToGame}\Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds\Game\ folder.
2. Double-click on SWGBWide_x1.exe -> patch will apply.
3. Run game from wide_battlegrounds_x1.exe and select 1280x1024 resolution in Options.
* If you can only select the top two display settings, not 1280x1024, run the game only from wide_battlegrounds_x1.bat. It launches wide_battlegronds_x1.exe with parameter 1280. This method forces resolution 1280x1024 for all users.

Have fun and may the Force be with you!
Thank you thank you thank you! I love my life now
Thank you for the patch!

One question though: is the HUD supposed to be compressed? It takes up about half my screen at the bottom, and then the other half has this very annoying emptiness next to it.

Is there any way to scale the HUD with the rest of the game?
I'm starting to suspect this patch doesn't work with Windows 10.

I've installed the one from the dropbox link, I've set it to 1280x1024 in the menu, however when I start the game the graphics look garbled.
Hey, I'm just chiming in to ask -- is the UI supposed to take up more than a quarter of the monitor with xap4oru's widescreen patch installed? Because the UI is obnoxiously large. The last time I played this game it was around 2004, and I don't remember if the UI really was that large in the game, or if it's just a result of the patch.

I should mention that my monitor's resolution is 1366x768.

Windows 10, and it just keeps crashing.

Basically, I just need to know if there's a reason why, after upgrading to Windows 10, playing the game in widescreen causes the game to crash. Any updates, comments, roadblocks?
The patch worked for me, but it slightly screwed up the colors, like grass and water on minimap. If you use this to patch the widescreen .exe it'll be fixed.

Thanks for this! I was so glad that the widescreen patch worked, but then i discovered the color distortions... which are now no longer a problem! *happy* :D

Zyankali: ****Works only on 1920x1080 (and above?)****

GoG's battlegrounds_x1.exe has some "special" fixes. If you replace the EXE and start the widescreen patch, all fixes are gone. So I created a *new* repack that works with GoG's release:

1. Clean Game (without widescreen mod)
2. Download GoG_SWGBWide.zip and extract in your Star Wars - Galactic Battlegrounds\Game folder
3. Start SWGBWide_x1.exe and patch the game
4. Start rename.bat
5. Start widescreen.bat every time
Thank you, this works for me (Windows 10 64-bit).

If anyone has a fix for this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Guys, read the topic carefully, old patch version made the game unplayable cause of low fps on resolutions smaller than 1024 high, so I modified it to use interface elements only from 1280x1024 resolutions! If you have 1366x768 monitors, it is better for you to use default 1024x768 resolution instead of widescreen patch.

I made a small update for my patch. I fixed the bottom right area - now it fill with black color. And I added .reg files that can fix color issue.

Download - dropbox.com/s/zzyfux616l5pwv9/swgbwide.zip?dl=0

Instructions:
1. Copy with replacement all files from DATA to {PathToGame}\Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds\Game\Data\ folder.
2. Copy with replacement all files from GOG to {PathToGame}\Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds\Game\ folder.
3. Double-click on swgbwide_x1.exe -> patch will apply.
5. If whenever you boot up the game, the colors are strange and distorted, go to COLOR folder and run fix_x32.reg for 32-bit OS or fix_x64.reg for 64-bit OS. This tweak will resolve this specific issue by applying required compatibility fixes to the registry.

Thanks for this, it seems to works well :) (even with the french version !)
Two questions...
The changes made in registry, can they be undone, or it doesn't matter to bother about this ?
Is it possible to have a resolution of 1600x900 instead of 1920x1080 ?
