is there a future patch planned with widescreen 1920*1080 support?
or did anyone manage to find a working old widescreen patch?

Unfortunatly, It looks like the one widescreen patch that there was has been lost.

You'll notice that the zip file they link to wont download. Or at least it does not for me.
I found one on heavengames, but it just screwed with the colours and showed the game in low resolution with a big black border filling the rest of the resolution
like how the colours from old versions of swgbg got skewed with new windows versions
can't post the link i'm afraid, you can find it easily with google

The patch from xap4oru here seems to work for me (1080p):
wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=20198&start=40

Forum won't let me post links (why the hell not?!), just put a www in front of the link.

Unfortunately it too shoes the broken DirectDraw-colors under Win7... Wasn't there a fix somewhere for this as it's based on the AoE2-Engine?

A shame this wasn't fixed in the GoG release but I've managed to get the widescreen working + resolving the colour issues.

- Go to the wsgf.org link posted by Lurtz and download / installed the widescreen fix as described.

- Go to swgb.heavengames.com/downloads/lister.php?category=utilities and download the 'Working Windows 7 Color Fix' and install as described.

To get both working together just open the colour fix file and get it to reference the widescreen amended .exe instead of the original. And then amend the widescreen fix to re-open explorer.exe after SWGB closes.

You should then run the game from the amended colour fix file.

After applying both patches I get the resolution to work, but in turn lose music playback :-/ is it possible to have both of those patches and still retain music playback?
high rated

GoG's battlegrounds_x1.exe has some "special" fixes. If you replace the EXE and start the widescreen patch, all fixes are gone. So I created a *new* repack that works with GoG's release:

1. Clean Game (without widescreen mod)
2. Download GoG_SWGBWide.zip and extract in your Star Wars - Galactic Battlegrounds\Game folder
3. Start SWGBWide_x1.exe and patch the game
4. Start rename.bat
5. Start widescreen.bat every time

Zyankali: GoG's battlegrounds_x1.exe has some "special" fixes.
I suspected this when I installed it across several machines. In fixing the DirectDraw color issue, it broke compatibility with older machines, resulting in audio lag. I confirmed this with my old CD based copy of the game on some XP machines. GOG's install skips like a scratched record whereas the CD version does what it is supposed to. The GOG version doesn't have the "rainbow puke" colors on Vista and 7 and it appears on the CD version install.

EDIT: Too bad the widescreen patch doesn't fix the audio hiccups in XP :/

Genius! Thank you :)
This is great. Any way of making it 1920x1200?
Launching the game from the lobby on www.voobly.com allows for widescreen and window mode support.
