General Troubleshooting
-----------------------

1. black screen / crash on launch:

- Before starting the game, change video resolution to your desktop one (or the closest match). if that fails, try falling back to 1024x768. Video settings can be found under GOG Galaxy HERE
-- or in Start Menu HERE.

- Close any unnecessary applications running in the background, especially ones overlay-based like EVGA Precision, MSI Afterburner, GeForce Experience, FRAPS etc.

- If running multiple screen setup, try switching to a single monitor.

If none of the above helps, please send your DxDiag to our Support team HERE. The more information we have, the easier it will be to pinpoint the problem.

2. Controllers
- connect (turn on if wireless) your controller before starting the game
- start the game, go to Settings->Joystick Settings
- set Joystick to Enable
- press Default to fill controls with standard mapping or configure them manually

EDIT 2: Just raced on the last invitational race, "Inferno" on "Baroonda", and have come across an annoying bug. As the level is set inside a volcanoe, everything is red. However, the distance fog and some level/circuit boarders are bright green! Makes the otherwise awesome level an eyesore. Photos attached.

EDIT: I tried editing the .CFG file in the GOG Star Wars directory and manually enabling V-SYNC. This does not appear to work.

---Screen Tearing---

Screen tearing during gameplay and menus. No v-sync option as far as i can see. Enabling v-sync in Nvidia control panel does nothing either (on both global and application specific schemes).

Suggestions??

GPU: GTX 960M
CPU: i7 6700HQ
RAM: 8GB

Ok, my second mouse cursor was gone AFTER A RESTART... Noobs mistake, of course I have to restart once !!

I'm getting three different problems, in order of how bad they are:

1. I cannot alt+tab from the game. If I do it, I get a black screen, where I can try to continue switching tabs, unsucessfully. I have to reboot my computer, because not even alt+f4, ctrl+alt+del or ctrl+shift+esc can get me out of that black screen;
2. I cannot reset the button to nothing in the axis options of the joystick controls. I set throttle to the slider I have in my joystick, but it didn't do so well, but now I cannot set it to nothing, is actually requires to be set to some other axis, and they are all useful;
3. While I can hover the mouse over the options and then press Enter to get in the menu, I simply can't click in the option to get in it.

2) my game crashes in the middle of loading after I quit out of it
3) the only button that works on my 360 controller is A

Been checking this forum in case someone has the same problem as me but I can't even open the video settings in gog galaxy without it crashing. Seems like everyone can open the video settings just fine but me lol.

Hey so I tried all these things and nothing worked, but then I restarted my computer and now it works fine, so if you try these fixes and nothing works, restart your computer first and then give it a go. It should work just fine. I'm playing at 1080p with my Xbox One controller and it works great.

Is there a technical reason why 4k resolution is not available? Just out of interest. 1440p is also nice enough on my 4k screen.

Edit: problem solved, by using dgVoodoo2 *and* XP2 compatibility on the SWEP1RCR.EXE and running it directly (not through Galaxy)



Nothing recommended worked, not any of the resolution settings, restarting the PC, nothing mentioned in this thread.

I get the blue loading bar at the bottom, when the game starts loading, and it always crashes to desktop before completing the loading bar.

Just a pretty sad state of affairs. Uninstalled the game for today, maybe I'll look into it tomorrow.

This can't have been too well tested before launch by gog.com

I would also suggest if you are on nvidia and have problems along with having the latest drivers installed, you download the hotfix drivers. There's a bug which causes games like this (and others) to not want to run/give weird error codes. If you are on up to I THINK the GTX 600 series, downgrade drivers as only critical fixes are being done as of April 30.

Does this game support refresh rates more than 60 Hz? Because the refresh rate of my screen supports only 75 Hz and I am not being able to modify it in the NVIDIA control panel. So when I try to launch the game, it crashes.

This is bad. Update did not fix a thing either. Still same crash error rdroid_gnome release build has stopped working.

VIPRIP: Does this game support refresh rates more than 60 Hz? Because the refresh rate of my screen supports only 75 Hz and I am not being able to modify it in the NVIDIA control panel. So when I try to launch the game, it crashes.
Use dgVoodoo for that, because by default the DX9 wrapper the game uses seems to force 60Hz. With dgVoodoo you can choose any of your refresh rates. Fps are also unlocked, by the way. At 640x480 I could get 420-440fps. And around 140fps at 2560x1440.

There is a bug or something I found. Somehow my track records were deleted, and I suspect it could be by loading different saves and in some way the old backup one overwrote the new one (at least not the unlocked pods and tracks in tournament mode, but I had to do track 3-1 again to unlock every track in free mode). Be careful if you have more than one and make backups.
