So excited to see this and the fact that it can run in 4K is ridiculous. However, can't pause the game as hitting escape takes me straight back to the main menu. Anyone having this issue and any suggestions?

Thats not a bug, in most games ESC brings up the menu ;)
I guess what he means is that going back to the menu is not featuring any option to go back to the game again. It just is like you've just started the game!
Having the same issue ...

Not the main menu I would have thought!
Update as well, tried to work around it by using hot keys for save/load menus (F3, F4 + F5 for quicksave)

Any attempt to save, either by accessing menu or quicksaving brings me back to main menu. F4 works to bring me to load game screen which means I can work around to pause the game but obviously still can't save the game - I'd love to try and plow through it in a single uninterrupted evening but unfortunately I'm not 12 anymore!

Insights appreciated :)

Got the solution thanks to Google bringing me to this blog article:https://oldgamesloser.wordpress.com/2017/12/03/star-trek-elite-force-on-windows-10-single-player/

Simply put:
* Go to BaseEF\efconfig.cfg and open it with Notepad++
* Find com_hunkMegs
* Should be defined with 32
* Set it to 64
* Save the file

Game worked flawlessly for me after this (and applying the widescreen patch and widescreen HUD) :)

Since, I play this game for over 20 years, I forgot that the vanilla settings are so low :)

Thank you for that, I will add it to the other page and my wiki ;)

Thank you very much! Helped me to keep playing.
YES!! This worked for me as well! Thanks so much, this has been driving me crazy for like two days. I'd get about halfway through the first away mission and then couldn't save or access the menu any longer without it crashing. I tried to just push through, but it would eventually crash anyway just going through the level. This fix sorted all of that out for me.
