So, game with a bit of tweaking of settings was working fine for about an hour. Today though? Loading any kind of scene where I have my ship to actually fly, I get "model renderer caught an error: unable to draw glow!" exception that immediately puts the game into a CTD. Something to do with Visual++ will occasionally pop up to say SFC3.exe had an abnormal runtime issue that shut it down. I've gone through the steps of manually installing DirectX9, dxcfg, and the like. Like I said, it worked fine once I got the settings right. And everything works right up until the point I try to load into a mission. Anyone have any ideas?
Hi Ruhencko

Can i just check something with you. Does it load in at all or does it crash when you get near another ship?

Ive fixed the issue myself but you know what works for one might not another but its worth a shot trying to help

I can't load into any missions whatsoever. I can move my ship around on the isometric overview map, but missions, skirmishes, anything where I'm loading into a scene where I can actually "fly" my ship it crashes out with this error.

Is it from a clean install? Just checking to eliminate it.

Have you tried the dgVoodoo 2.72 (tweaked for SFCLauncher) fix? I cant post a link to it but
hotandspicyforums.com/dgvoodoo-reshade-jan2020-t27492.html you can try it just copy them into the folder and see if it helps

Clean install, already using SFCLauncher and dgvoodoo.

Hi so im not sure whats causing it but I did read that the GLOW error was caused by the render.
It can be found in Star Trek SFC3/Components/ModelRendererR.dll
Apparently the original ModelRendererR.dll from the CD is different then the updated gog one but I cant confirm this as its just something I came across when I was trying to get my own game working.

This might be a long shot but I would suggest trying the All In One Upgrade mod. It might work for you. It patches the game to work on modern systems, although so does the gog game but the mod was from before the new release so it does it differently.

I have a Guide here;
www.gog.com/forum/star_trek_starfleet_command_iii/all_in_one_upgrade_mod_32_working_with_gog_sfc_3

I wish I could be of more help but this might be worth a shot as its helped some people to play it, albeit with the mod and not the OG game. With that said this mod lets you play the campaigns and everything fine just in widescreen and with hd models.

I have no connection to the mod or anything but I spent a few days hammering away at this game trying to get it working and this worked for me hence why im suggesting it.

Best of luck let me know if it works for you.

Oh and you might have tryed this already but you could try rename dbghelp.dll to dbghelp_old.dll

Than worked for a few people but didnt do much for me. Taught id mention it nonetheless
